QRCS provides social assistance to 24,000 beneficiaries in Qatar

Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) continues to pursue its humanitarian and development mission for the Qatari society, with a view to improving living conditions at all levels.

Through its Humanitarian Services Fund, it offers many forms of support to the vulnerable, promoting the values of solidarity among society members. Since year-start, it has helped around 24,000 beneficiaries in total.

The assistance varied, ranging from regular assistance for low-income families to special assistance for those who have some emergency. Cash and in-kind assistance is given to needy families during certain times of the year such as the holy month of Ramadan, as well as families whose homes are damaged due to some disaster.

Other examples include help for the workers who face difficulties, transportation refund for destitute cases, and one-time assistance to solve issues threatening the stability of the family.

With these provisions, QRCS could reach out to 321 widows and female breadwinners, 268 older persons, 388 zero-income persons, 1,244 low-income persons, 24 families of penitentiary inmates, 33 persons with special needs, 565 monthly assistance cases, and 60 emergency assistance cases.

“The Humanitarian Services Fund is a charitable program aimed at helping the most vulnerable groups of society that cannot find a job, like orphans, widows, older persons, and persons with special needs,” said Muna Fadel Al Sulaiti, Executive Director of Volunteering and Local Development at QRCS.

She said that it also takes care of vulnerable families that cannot meet their basic needs, in order to keep them stable and protect them against the risks of poverty and homelessness.

“This is the only program dedicated to those who need financial or social assistance. It serves as a haven for the vulnerable groups, to mitigate the economic, social, and psychological impact of abject poverty, particularly for families and children. This way, it proactively prevents the negative consequences both at the individual and collective level,” said Al Sulaiti.

يواصل الهلال الأحمر القطري أداء رسالته التنموية والإنسانية لخدمة المجتمع القطري والنهوض بمستوى المعيشة فيه، من خلال صندوق الخدمات الإنسانية الذي يقدم العديد من صور الدعم والمساعدة للفئات الأولى بالرعاية، بهدف إعلاء قيم التكافل والإخاء بين أفراد المجتمع، حيث بلغ إجمالي عدد المستفيدين من المساعدات المقدمة منذ بداية العام حتى الآن حوالي 24,000 شخص.

وقد تنوعت هذه المساعدات ما بين مساعدات دورية للأسر التي ليس لها دخل كافٍ تعتمد عليه في معيشتها، ومساعدات استثنائية تقدم فوراً للحالات التي تتعرض لظروف قهرية طارئة، ومساعدات عينية أو مالية للأسر المحتاجة في المواسم كشهر رمضان المبارك، ومساعدات للعمال الذين يواجهون ظروفاً غير مواتية، ومساعدات مالية أو عينية للأسر التي تعرضت منازلها للضرر بفعل كارثة، ومساعدات بدل الانتقال للحالات شديدة الاحتياج، ومساعدات مالية مقطوعة تُدفَع مرة واحدة للمستفيد لحل مشكلة طارئة تهدد استقرار الأسرة.

واستفاد من المساعدات التي قدمها الهلال الأحمر القطري 321 من النساء الأرامل والمعيلات، و268 من كبار السن، و388 من معدومي الدخل، و1,244 من محدودي الدخل، و24 من أسر نزلاء المؤسسات العقابية والإصلاحية، و33 من ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، علاوة على 565 حالة مساعدات شهرية، و60 حالة مساعدات طارئة.

وفي هذا الصدد، قالت السيدة منى فاضل السليطي المدير التنفيذي لقطاع التطوع والتنمية المحلية بالهلال الأحمر القطري: “صندوق الخدمات الإنسانية هو برنامج خيري يهدف إلى مساعدة الفئات الأكثر احتياجاً في المجتمع من الضعفاء غير القادرين على العمل، مثل الأيتام والأرامل وكبار السن وذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، بالإضافة إلى الأسر الأولى بالرعاية التي لا تستطيع سد احتياجاتها الأساسية، بهدف لم شملها وحمايتها من خطر الحاجة والتشرد”.

وأوضحت أن صندوق الخدمات الإنسانية هو البرنامج الأساسي في الهلال الأحمر القطري لاستقبال من يحتاجون إلى مساعدات اقتصادية أو اجتماعية، بغرض مساعدة الفئات الضعيفة على استيفاء المتطلبات الأساسية للحياة، وتخفيف الآثار الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والنفسية الناجمة عن شدة الحاجة وخاصةً على الأسرة والطفل، والوقاية مما قد يترتب على ذلك من نتائج سلبية بالنسبة للفرد والمجتمع معاً.
