“Doha Winter Wonderland” will be a Qualitative Addition to Tourism in Qatar: Al Baker

Doha: HE Chairman of Qatar Tourism, CEO of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker, considered that the “Doha Winter Wonderland” project will be a qualitative addition to tourism projects in Qatar, as it will be more than just a games area but rather an integrated entertainment destination comparable to the most prominent international entertainment cities.

This came during the signing of a contract by Qatari Diar and the Qatar Tourism Authority with the Elegancia Group, to which the investment opportunity was awarded to establish and operate the Doha Winter Wonderland project on Al Maha Island in Lusail City.

HE Al Baker said that this project will add a new entertainment destination to the growing list of global tourist destinations in Qatar, it will serve both those inside Qatar and visitors during the next five years, especially during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the project is planned to be launched before the start of the World Cup next year.

HE Chairman of Qatari Diar, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, said, “Once this project is completed, it will not only be targeting domestic tourism, but will also go beyond that to become a remarkable and distinctive addition to the growing list of world-class tourist destinations in Qatar.”

For his part, CEO of Qatari Diar, Eng. Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah stated, “Lusail City is planned to be the city of the future, which will embrace social diversity and advanced infrastructure. In addition to integrated services, whether governmental or private, and large local and international institutions and entities, Lusail City is to add an entertainment destination with international specifications such as “Doha Winter Wonderland.”

“Qatari Diar is always keen to offer various investment opportunities constantly within Lusail City to investors and the private sector in various fields, the “Doha Winter Wonderland” project is one of these investment opportunities to support and enhance the role of the private sector in investing in Lusail City.”

“This project is planned to start receiving visitors before the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 despite the challenges of its implementation in a short period of time i.e. less than a year, we believe in the strength of the partnership between Qatari Diar, Qatar Tourism and Elegancia Group, and the real desire of these parties to realize this outstanding achievement, God willing.”

The signing of the contract was attended by HE Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani, HE Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatari Diar, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, Chairman of Elegancia Group, Moataz Al Khayat, and CEO of IMG for the Middle East and North Africa, Frank Guinari, along with many dignitaries.

The project was proposed by Qatari Diar as a unique investment opportunity for the private sector in cooperation with Qatar Tourism. A large number of local and international investors submitted their proposals and offers for the project. A joint committee between Qatari Diar Company, Qatar Tourism and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry studied the submitted offers, the Elegancia Group won this investment opportunity to finance, implement and operate the project.

Al Maha Island is located in the eastern side off the coast of the Marina and Tarfa Lusail area, it is the location of a group of international hotels and tourist facilities, in addition to the new luxury shopping center Place Vendome.

The “Doha Winter Wonderland” project includes six gaming areas with more than 50 world-class games for different ages, the project will be operated by IMG – International Marketing Group, the global company specialised in operating events, including the operation of “Hyde Park Winter Wonderland” in Hyde Park London.

In addition to a beach club, family chalets, a public area for holding various parties and events, a sports area, restaurants and cafes, as well as a walkway and a huge car park, the project has facilities to offer all services to ensure a unique tourist experience, the project is scheduled to be ready before the start of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Elegancia said it will be a new tourist destination to all the residents of Qatar and the World Cup guests. With the World Cup tournament approaching, Qatar Tourism is working hand in hand with Qatari Diar to take the necessary steps and initiatives to develop and revitalize the sector by involving investors in the development and construction process, this huge project in the modern city of Lusail, is considered as an important addition to the country’s entertainment facilities.

The project is expected to start receiving visitors before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

الدوحة: اعتبر سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، رئيس جهاز قطر للسياحة والرئيس التنفيذي للخطوط الجوية القطرية، أن مشروع /الدوحة ونتر وندر لاند/ سيكون إضافة نوعية للمشاريع السياحية في دولة قطر كونه سيكون أكثر من مجرد منطقة ألعاب بل وجهة ترفيهية متكاملة تضاهي أبرز مدن الترفيه العالمية.

جاء ذلك خلال توقيع شركة الديار القطرية وجهاز قطر للسياحة عقدا مع مجموعة /اليجانسيا/ التي تمت ترسية الفرصة الاستثمارية عليها لإقامة وتشغيل مشروع /الدوحة ونتر وندر لاند/ في جزيرة /المها/ بمدينة لوسيل.

وأبرز سعادته أن هذا المشروع سيضيف وجهة ترفيهية جديدة على قائمة الوجهات السياحية العالمية المتزايدة في قطر والتي تخدم كل المتواجدين داخل دولة قطر والزوار خلال الخمس سنوات القادمة، خاصة خلال كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 حيث من المخطط أن ينطلق المشروع قبل بداية كأس العالم العام القادم.

ومن جهته، أكد سعادة الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن جاسم آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس إدارة الديار القطرية، أن المشروع لن يكون بعد اكتماله مجرد نقطة جذب سياحية تستهدف السياحة الداخلية فقط، بل سيتخطى ذلك ليصبح إضافة لافتة ومميزة إلى قائمة الوجهات السياحية المتزايدة ذات المستوى العالمي في قطر.

بدوره، ذكر المهندس عبدالله بن حمد العطية، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة الديار القطرية، أن لوسيل لن تكون، وفق المخططات، مدينة المستقبل التي تحتضن التنوع المجتمعي والبنى التحتية المتطورة والخدمات المتكاملة سواء الحكومية أو الخاصة، والمؤسسات والكيانات الكبيرة محليا ودوليا، بل ستكون وجهة ترفيهية بمواصفات عالمية، تضيف ميزة تنافسية جديدة للمدينة ومتنفسا للسكان والزوار على حد سواء.

وأشار إلى أن شركة الديار القطرية تحرص دائما على طرح فرص استثمارية متنوعة باستمرار داخل مدينة لوسيل للمستثمرين والقطاع الخاص في مختلف المجالات، لافتا إلى أن مشروع /الدوحة ونتر وندر لاند/ هو إحدى هذه الفرص الاستثمارية لدعم وتعزيز دور القطاع الخاص في الاستثمار في مدينة لوسيل، فضلا عما سيضيفه من فرص متوالية للاستثمار داخل المدينة خلال فترة إنشاء وتشغيل المشروع في مختلف المجالات.

وأوضح أنه من المبرمج أن يبدأ هذا المشروع في استقبال زواره قبل بداية كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، مشددا على أنه رغم تحديات التنفيذ في فترة زمنية وجيزة تقل عن السنة، إلا أن هناك ثقة بقوة الشراكة ما بين شركة الديار القطرية وقطر للسياحة ومجموعة /إليجانسيا/ في تحقيق هذا الإنجاز المتميز.

كما حضر توقيع العقد سعادة السيد علي بن أحمد الكواري وزير المالية، وسعادة الشيخ محمد بن حمد بن قاسم آل ثاني وزير التجارة والصناعة، وسعادة الشيخ خالد بن خليفة بن جاسم آل ثاني رئيس مجلس إدارة الديار القطرية، والسيد معتز الخياط رئيس مجلس إدارة مجموعة /إليجانسيا/، والسيد فرانك غينياري الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة IMG لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا.

جدير بالذكر أن المشروع قد قامت بطرحة شركة الديار القطرية كفرصة استثمارية فريدة من نوعها لشركات القطاع الخاص بالتعاون مع قطر للسياحة، ومن ثم تقدم عدد كبير من المستثمرين المحليين والعالميين بمقترحاتهم وعروضهم للمشروع، حيث قامت لجنة مشتركة بين شركة الديار القطرية وقطر للسياحة ووزارة التجارة والصناعة بدراسة العروض المقدمة، وفازت مجموعة /إليجانسيا/ من بين العروض المقدمة بهذه الفرصة الاستثمارية لتمويل وتنفيذ وتشغيل المشروع.

وسيتم تنفيذ مشروع /الدوحة ونتر وندر لاند/ على مساحة 200 ألف متر مربع على جزيرة /المها/ التي تقع في الجانب الشرقي قبالة ساحل منطقة المارينا ومنطقة طرفة لوسيل التي تحتوي على مجموعة من الفنادق العالمية والمرافق السياحية، بالإضافة إلى بلاس فندوم مركز التسوق الجديد الفخم، فضلا على أنه سيضم ست مناطق ألعاب تضم أكثر من 50 لعبة من الطراز العالمي لمختلف الأعمار.

كما يحتوي المشروع على ناد بحري على الشاطئ وشاليهات عائلية، ومنطقة عامة لإقامة الحفلات والفعاليات المختلفة ومنطقة رياضية، ومطاعم ومقاهي، إلى جانب ممشى وموقف سيارات ضخم حيث تتوفر كل الخدمات لضمان تجربة سياحية فريدة من نوعها للزوار من مختلف الجنسيات والفئات العمرية.

ومن المتوقع أن يكون المشروع جاهزا قبل بداية كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022 ليكون وجهة سياحية جديدة تضاف لجميع سكان قطر ولضيوف المونديال.

ومع اقتراب انطلاق المونديال الكروي العالمي، يعمل قطر للسياحة يدا بيد مع شركة الديار القطرية على اتخاذ الخطوات والمبادرات اللازمة لتطوير وتنشيط القطاع من خلال إشراك المستثمرين في عملية تطوير وإنشاء هذا المشروع الضخم في مدينة لوسيل العصرية والذي يعتبر إضافة مهمة لمرافق الترفيه في الدولة.
