Speaker of the Shura Council Arrives in Madrid to Participate in IPU Assembly

Madrid: HE Speaker of the Shura Council Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanem and his accompanying delegation arrived yesterday in Madrid to participate in the 143rd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU) and the 208th session of the IPU Governing Council, which are set to take place on Friday and will last for five days.
The meeting, held under the theme “Contemporary challenges to democracy: Overcoming division and building community,” will include all of IPU’s bodies. This includes the Governing Council, permanent committees, the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights, Committee on Middle East Questions, the Forum of Women Parliamentarians, and the Forum of Young Parliamentarians.
The meeting will provide the parliamentarians a platform for deliberation and the exchange of views. It will also mobilize parliamentary efforts aimed at supporting democracy all over the world.

مدريد: وصل سعادة السيد حسن بن عبدالله الغانم رئيس مجلس الشورى، والوفد المرافق له، يوم أمس إلى العاصمة الإسبانية مدريد، للمشاركة في اجتماعات الجمعية العامة الثالثة والأربعين بعد المائة، والدورة الـ208 للمجلس الحاكم للاتحاد البرلماني الدولي، والتي ستعقد بعد غد الجمعة وتستمر خمسة أيام.
وتضم اجتماعات الدورة الـ143 للجمعية العامة التي تعقد تحت عنوان “التحديات المعاصرة التي تواجه الديمقراطية: التغلب على الانقسامات وبناء المجتمع”، جميع الهيئات التشريعية للاتحاد البرلماني الدولي بما في ذلك المجلس الحاكم، واللجان الدائمة، ولجنة حقوق الإنسان للبرلمانيين، ولجنة شؤون الشرق الأوسط، بالإضافة إلى منتدى النساء البرلمانيات ومنتدى البرلمانيين الشباب.
وستوفر المناقشة العامة منبراً للبرلمانيين للتشاور، وتبادل الآراء، والسعي إلى تحفيز العمل البرلماني لدعم الديمقراطية وتعزيزها حول العالم.
