“4 household supplies are not enough” .. Demands to update the list of subsidized supplies

A number of citizens demanded the authorities concerned with food affairs to diversify the list of subsidized food items and update food items by adding long-term baby formula, meat, chicken, pasta and canned vegetables, as the current list provides only 4 food items: rice, oil, sugar and milk.
They stressed the need to replace old basic materials with new ones, such as virgin olive oil, fresh milk, long-term baby formula, meat, poultry, natural honey, flour and other food items.
In interview held by Al-Sharq with a number of citizens, they suggested the following alternatives:
* Optional food coupons that allow the individual to purchase consumables.
* A cash allowance that gives the individual the option to purchase his or her need.
* Re-evaluate and study the quotas allocated to each individual.

طالب عدد من المواطنين الجهات المختصة بالشأن الغذائي بتنويع قائمة المواد التموينية المدعومة وتحديث الأصناف الغذائية بإضافة حليب الأطفال طويل الأجل واللحوم والدجاج والمعكرونة ومعلبات الخضراوات، حيث أن القائمة الحالية توفر 4 أصناف غذائية فقط هي الأرز والزيت والسكر والحليب.
مؤكدين على ضرورة استبدال المواد الأساسية القديمة بمواد جديدة من قبيل زيت الزيتون البكر والحليب الطازج وحليب الأطفال طويل الأجل واللحوم والدواجن والعسل الطبيعي والطحين وغيرها من الأصناف الغذائية الأخرى.
وفي لقاءات أجرتها الشرق مع عدد من المواطنين، اقترحوا البدائل التالية:
- كوبونات غذائية اختيارية تتيح للفرد شراء مواد استهلاكية.
- بدل نقدي لترك الخيار أمام الفرد لشراء حاجته.
- إعادة تقييم ودراسة الحصص المخصصة لكل فرد.
