Vodafone Qatar rolls out fibre connectivity at Hamad Port

DOHA: Vodafone Qatar announced further progress in accelerating Qatar towards becoming one of the most connected and technologically advanced countries in the world with news that it is rolling out fibre connectivity at Hamad Port.

In one of the most ambitious projects of its kind, the business has started providing entities in Hamad Port with world-class telecommunications services, including fixed and mobile.

This follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed between Vodafone Qatar and the Hamad Port Project Steering Committee, the entity tasked with the design and development of the port.

As per the report, Vodafone Qatar worked closely with the Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani) – to provide Hamad Port with high speed mobile coverage solutions and a high-speed fibre technology network.

Vodafone Qatar’s mobile and fixed technology enables the provision of services including smart solutions and new applications such as smart security, asset tracking and smart metering.

These technologies of the future will help the vast number of organisations operating in the Port to optimise, automate and innovate.

أعلنت شركة «فودافون قطر» إحراز المزيد من التقدم في مساعي تحويل دولة قطر إلى واحدة من أكثر بلدان العالم ترابطاً وتطوراً من الناحية التكنولوجية، مع الإعلان عن تزويد ميناء حمد بشبكة من الألياف عالية السرعة.

وضمن إطار مشروع يُعتبر الأكثر طموحاً من نوعه، بدأت الشركة بتزويد منشآت الميناء بخدمات اتصالات من المستوى العالمي، بما في ذلك خدمات الهاتف الثابت والهواتف المحمولة. وسيضمن ذلك تشغيل عمليات الميناء -الذي يعدّ الأكبر في الشرق الأوسط- بأكبر قدرٍ ممكن من الكفاءة والفاعلية. وتأتي هذه الخطوة عقب توقيع مذكرة تفاهم بين «فودافون قطر» ولجنة تسيير مشروع ميناء حمد؛ الجهة المسؤولة عن تصميم وتطوير ميناء حمد.

وعملت «فودافون قطر» عن كثب مع «الشركة القطرية لإدارة الموانئ» (مواني قطر) لتزويد ميناء حمد بحلول عالية السرعة لتغطية الهواتف المحمولة وشبكة من الألياف فائقة السرعة.

وتسمح تكنولوجيا الهاتف المحمول والثابت التي تقدمها «فودافون قطر» بتوفير خدمات عديدة تتضمن الحلول الذكية والتطبيقات الحديثة، مثل الأمن الذكي، وتتبّع الأصول، والقياس الذكي. وستساعد هذه التقنيات المتطورة العدد الهائل من المؤسسات العاملة في الميناء على الابتكار وتحسين وأتمتة عملياتها.

نمو

ويعدّ ميناء حمد أحد أكبر الموانئ الصديقة للبيئة في العالم، وتم افتتاحه رسمياً في شهر سبتمبر 2017 في منطقة أم الحول بمساحة تبلغ 28.5 كيلومتر مربع. ويتمتع بقدرة استيعابية سنوية تصل إلى 7,5 مليون حاوية نمطية، ومحطات منفصلة مخصصة للبضائع العامة والحبوب والمركبات والمواشي بقدرات استيعابية مختلفة. وسيدعم الميناء مساعي دولة قطر في تحقيق الأمن الغذائي والتنويع الاقتصادي، وذلك بما ينسجم مع «رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030».;
