QU and US company “Baker Hughes” Strength Cooperation in Academic, Research Fields

Doha: Qatar University (QU), represented by the College of Engineering, signed an agreement with the US company (Baker Hughes) to enhance cooperation in the academic, research, and professional fields and support students.

The signing of the agreement came from the desire of the two parties to develop and strengthen their cooperation in the fields of education and training and to provide all possible assistance within the limits of the specific competencies of each party, to achieve the goals in a manner that fulfills the roles assigned.

Dean of the College of Engineering, Dr. Khalid Kamal Naji, stressed that this partnership expands the channels of communication between the university and the private sector to aid the transition into a knowledge economy and to open the way for companies to benefit from the universitys facilities, as well as expanding partnerships with faculty members specialized in the field of scientific research, in addition to holding various events and launching initiatives that serve all participants and benefit Qatar and society as a whole.

“This agreement contributes to activating the community partnership, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and technology to serve the university and society, and deepening the relationship with the industrial sector towards more cooperation and joint interaction in a way that supports the educational process and students,” he added.

For his part, Vice President of Baker Hughes for the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, Zaher Ibrahim, expressed his pride as an energy technology company in providing Qatar University with turbine equipment, and process solutions (Laser Doppler intensity measurement) to help develop scientific research capabilities in Qatar, pointing to Baker Hughes support for innovation and research that can help drive the energy transition and support decarbonization to contribute to the Qatar National Vision 2030 and Qatar University goals.

الدوحة: وقعت جامعة قطر ممثلة بكلية الهندسة اتفاقية مع شركة (بيكر هيوز) الأمريكية لتعزيز التعاون في المجالات الأكاديمية والبحثية والمهنية ودعم الطلبة.

جاء توقيع الاتفاقية انطلاقا من رغبة الطرفين في تنمية وتعزيز التعاون المشترك بينهما للاستفادة من الإمكانيات المشتركة للطرفين في مجالات التعليم والتدريب وتقديم كل المساعدات الممكنة في حدود الاختصاصات المحددة لكل طرف، لتحقيق هذه الأهداف على نحو يفعل الدور المنوط بكل منهما.

وأكد الدكتور خالد كمال ناجي عميد كلية الهندسة، أن هذه الشراكة توسع قنوات التواصل بين الجامعة والقطاع الخاص لدفع عملية التحول إلى اقتصاد المعرفة ولفتح المجال للشركات للاستفادة من مرافق الجامعة، وكذلك توسيع الشراكات مع أعضاء هيئة التدريس المتخصصين في مجال البحث العلمي وعقد الفعاليات المختلفة وإطلاق المبادرات التي تخدم جميع المشاركين وتعود بالنفع على قطر والمجتمع ككل.

وأضاف “تسهم هذه الاتفاقية في تفعيل الشراكة المجتمعية وتسهل نقل المعرفة والتكنولوجيا خدمة للجامعة والمجتمع، وتعميق العلاقة مع القطاع الصناعي نحو مزيد من التعاون والتفاعل المشترك وبما يدعم العملية التعليمية والطلبة”.

من جانبه عبر السيد زاهر إبراهيم، نائب رئيس شركة /بيكر هيوز/ لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا وتركيا عن فخره كشركة لتكنولوجيا الطاقة بتزويد جامعة قطر بالمعدات التوربينية، وحلول العمليات (قياس شدة الليزر دوبلر) للمساعدة في تطوير قدرات البحث العلمي في قطر، مشيرا إلى أن شركة بيكر هيوز تركز على دعم الابتكار والبحث الذي يمكن أن يساعد في دفع تحول الطاقة ودعم إزالة الكربون سعيا للمساهمة رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 وأهداف جامعة قطر.
