Schools in Qatar, the Gulf and the world have warned teenagers not to watch or engage in the Korean series “Squid Game” because it contains violent scenes and dangerous challenges.
The Lebanese school in Doha sent a letter to parents warning them of their children watching Squid Game because of the psychological damage it causes to them, and schools in a number of countries around the world sent a letter warning parents in the same language.
But what is the story of the “Squid Game” that has become the highest-watched in the world and how dangerous is it for children?
The story and cost of the series
According to Bloomberg, Netflix’s Squid Game is worth nearly $900 million, the biggest original series of its production.
In the nine-episode thriller, cash-strapped competitors play children games, but they have deadly consequences in pursuit of a 45.6 billion won ($38.58 million) prize.
The series has been causing worldwide uproar since it began airing in September and has become a global focus.
Bloomberg reported that production of the series cost only about $21.4 million.
According to Bloomberg’s report, at least 132 million watched at least two minutes of the series in its first 23 days of release, and in other reports, it has reached more than 111 million views for the first time in Netflix history.
Warnings of violence in the series
The Lebanese school in Doha sent a letter to parents warning them of their children watching Squid Game series because of the psychological damage it causes to them.
Some parents told Al-Sharq that the school told them to be careful and monitor children and follow up their actions and the resulting violent or out-of-control behavior as a result of the continuous follow-up of the famous Korean series.
A British local council also urged parents not to allow their children to watch the famous Squid Game, because of the violent nature of its scenes.
According to the Daily Mail, the council has sent letters to parents advising them to “exercise caution after reports that children and young people are imitating games and violence from the series.”
The Daily Mail, citing its sources, points out that children under the age of six imitate scenes from the series in school playgrounds, with “fatal consequences”.
For their part, school teachers warn that the “Squid Game” is an encouragement for children to take on serious challenges.
John Bramston Primary School in east London issued a letter to parents explaining their fears that children who watched the series were pretending to shoot each other as a way to re-enact the series.
Other schools around the world have begun to offer lessons on violence and abuse online.

لكن ما هي قصة “لعبة الحبار” الذي أصبح الأعلى مشاهدة في العالم وما هي خطورته على الأطفال؟
قصة المسلسل وتكلفته
وفق وكالة “بلومبيرغ” ، فإن قيمة مسلسل “لعبة الحبار” أو “سكويد غيم “Squid Game الكوري الذي تبثه شبكة “نتفليكس” تقدّر بما يقارب 900 مليون دولار، وهو أكبر مسلسل من إنتاجها الأصلي.
وفي المسلسل المثير المؤلف من 9 حلقات، يلعب متنافسون يمرّون بضائقة مالية ألعاب أطفال، لكن لها تبعات مميتة سعياً للحصول على جائزة قدرها 45.6 مليار وون (38.58 مليون دولار).
ويثير المسلسل ضجة في العالم منذ بداية بثه في سبتمبر وأصبح محل اهتمام عالمي.
وذكرت “بلومبرغ” أنّ إنتاج المسلسل تكلف فقط نحو 21.4 مليون دولار.
ووفق تقرير بلومبيرغ، فقد شاهد 132 مليوناً دقيقتين على الأقل من المسلسل في أول 23 يوماً من إصداره، وفي تقارير أخرى، حقق أكثر من 111 مليون مشاهدة لأول مرة في تاريخ نتفليكس.
تحذيرات من عنف المسلسل
أرسلت المدرسة اللبنانية في الدوحة خطابا إلى أولياء الأمور تحذرهم من مشاهدة أطفالهم لمسلسل الحبار لما يسببه من أضرار نفسية عليهم.
وقال بعض أولياء الأمور لـ “موقع الشرق” إن المدرسة أخبرتهم بضرورة توخي الحذر ومراقبة الأطفال ومتابعة تصرفاتهم وما ينتج عن ذلك من سلوك عنيف او خارج عن السيطرة نتيجة لمتابعة المسلسل الكوري الشهير بشكل مستمر.
كما حث مجلس محلي بريطاني الآباء على عدم السماح لأطفالهم بمشاهدة مسلسل (لعبة الحبار) الشهير، بسبب طبيعة مشاهده العنيفة.
وذكرت صحيفة “ديلي ميل” البريطانية، أن المجلس بعث برسائل لأولياء الأمور، ينصحهم فيه بـ”توخي الحذر بعد ورود تقارير تفيد بأن الأطفال والشباب يقلدون الألعاب والعنف من المسلسل”
وتشير “ديلي ميل” نقلاً عن مصادرها إلى أن الأطفال الذين تقل أعمارهم عن ست سنوات يقلدون مشاهد المسلسل، في ملاعب المدارس، مما يؤدي إلى “عواقب مميتة”.
من جانبهم، يحذر معلمو المدارس من أن “لعبة الحبار” يعد تشجيعا للأطفال للخوض في تحديات خطيرة.
وأصدرت مدرسة “جون برامستون” الابتدائية في شرق لندن رسالة إلى أولياء الأمور تشرح فيها مخاوفها من أن الأطفال الذين شاهدوا المسلسل يتظاهرون بإطلاق النار على بعضهم البعض كوسيلة لإعادة تمثيل المسلسل.
وبدأت مدارس أخرى حول العالم بتقديم دروس حول العنف والأذى عبر الإنترنت.
