The Peninsula Hails Return of Normalcy in Sports Events

Doha: Qatari English-language The Peninsula newspaper said in its editorial Sunday that Qatar football giants Al Sadd and Al Rayyan are gearing up for Friday’s Amir Cup final, which will be a memorable occasion for all the fans.
Not for just the enthusiasts, the showdown between the two sides at the brand new Al Thumama Stadium a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 venue will be a special occasion for the entire country in many ways, the paper said.
The arrangements are in full swing for the final that will also mark the inauguration of Al Thumama Stadium, the sixth tournament ready stadium after the Khalifa International, Al Janoub, Education City, Ahmad Bin Ali and Al Bayt stadiums, the paper said, adding that Al Bayt Stadium and the Ras Abu Aboud will be inaugurated during the first FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, which will be played from November 30 to December 18.
Last week, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Amir Cup 2021 final, announced that the 40,000-seater Al Thumama Stadium will operate at hundred percent occupancy to host Al Sadd and Al Rayyans title decider, it noted.
The newspaper stressed that Qatar is one of the few countries which resumed international sports activities first after COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the sports calendar all over the world, pointing out that the country did not just organise its scheduled events but also helped other sports bodies to complete their tournaments by stepping in as hosts, but, a limited number of fans were welcomed during these events.
The October 22 Amir Cup final, however, will mark the return of normalcy in sports events as Al Thumama Stadium will host a capacity crowd by following the COVID-19 protocols, the daily underlined.
“It would be a great experience for fans and we are all excited for this big match,” said Rashid Al Khater, Director of Operations, Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Amir Cup 2021 final, who also said that the LOC is confident of organising the final in a befitting manner, The Peninsula concluded.

وذكرت الصحيفة أن الاستعدادات على قدم وساق للنهائي الذي سيشهد أيضاً تدشين استاد الثمامة، وسيكون سادس ملعب جاهز للبطولة بعد ملاعب خليفة الدولي والجنوب والمدينة التعليمية وأحمد بن علي والبيت، مضيفة أنه سيتم افتتاح استاد البيت ورأس أبو عبود خلال استضافة مباريات كأس العرب 2021 المقررة في قطر، في الفترة من 30 نوفمبر وحتى 18 ديسمبر.
وأشارت إلى إعلان اللجنة المنظمة لنهائي كأس الأمير 2021، الأسبوع الماضي، أن ملعب الثمامة الذي يتسع لـ 40 ألف متفرج سيعمل بكامل طاقته الاستيعابية لاستضافة فريقي السد والريان.
وأكدت الصحيفة أن دولة قطر هي واحدة من الدول القليلة التي استأنفت الأنشطة الرياضية الدولية بعد أن تسبب وباء كوفيد-19 في اضطراب التقويم الرياضي في جميع أنحاء العالم، مشيرة إلى أن الدولة لم تنظم أحداثها المجدولة فحسب، بل ساعدت أيضًا الهيئات الرياضية الأخرى على إكمال بطولاتها من خلال التدخل كمضيف، ولكن تم الترحيب بعدد محدود من الجماهير خلال هذه البطولات.
ورأت أن نهائي كأس الأمير، الذي سيقام في 22 أكتوبر، سيشهد عودة الحياة إلى طبيعتها في الأحداث الرياضية، حيث سيستضيف استاد الثمامة جمهورًا واسعًا مع اتباع بروتوكولات كوفيد-19 الاحترازية.
ولفتت في الختام إلى تصريح راشد الخاطر، مدير إدارة العمليات التشغيلية باللجنة المحلية المنظمة لنهائي كأس الأمير 2021، الذي أكد أن المباراة النهائية ستكون تجربة رائعة للجماهير، وأن اللجنة المنظمة واثقة من تنظيمها بشكل لائق.
