QRCS provides digital thermometers for Gaza students

Doha: In co-operation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Gaza, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has distributed 77 digital thermometers to 44 public schools in the five governorates, with a view to controlling the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and ensuring a safe school environment for students and teachers.

In a press statement, Eng. Mohamed Nassar, director of Projects Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, said the contribution of QRCS met the needs of the ministry to ensure a safe educational process by securing all the materials to protect the safety of staff and students at public schools.

Nassar noted that 24,000 boys and girls are being checked with the new thermometers, lauding QRCS’ constant efforts to help the Palestinian people.

Dr Akram Nassar, director of QRCS’s representation mission in Gaza, highlighted their support to Gaza’s schools as an emergency response to the Covid-19 pandemic, keeping the students safe as they attend their schools.

“We have ongoing health projects to alleviate the impact of difficult circumstances imposed by the virus. There is a project to provide emergency Coronavirus control supplies totaling $95,000 in value. It involved procuring 800 swab kits, sanitisers, gloves, and medical consumables for the Ministry of Health,” Dr Nassar said.

“Also, 13,000 liters of disinfectants (sodium hypochlorite), shoes, and leather gloves were delivered to the Municipality of Gaza, in order to protect its workers,” he added.

الدوحة: انتهى الهلال الأحمر القطري، بالتعاون مع وزارة التربية والتعليم العالي في قطاع غزة، من توزيع 77 جهاز ماسح حراري على 44 مدرسة حكومية في محافظات القطاع الخمسة، وذلك في إطار جهود مواجهة تفشي فيروس كورونا (كوفيد – 19) في غزة، وتوفير بيئة مدرسية آمنة للطلاب والكوادر التعليمية.

وفي هذا السياق، أوضح مدير دائرة المشاريع بوزارة التربية والتعليم العالي بغزة، المهندس محمد نصار، أن مساهمة الهلال الأحمر القطري تأتي تلبية لحاجات الوزارة في ضمان أمان العملية التعليمية، من خلال توفير كل المواد التي تضمن سلامة العاملين والطلاب بالمدارس الحكومية.

ونوه م. نصار إلى أن 24.000 طالب وطالبة في المدارس بدأت عملية فحصهم باستخدام أجهزة المسح الجديدة، مثمناً جهود الهلال الأحمر القطري المستمرة لدعم المجتمع الفلسطيني.

ومن جانبه، أشار د. أكرم نصار مدير مكتب الهلال الأحمر القطري في قطاع غزة إلى أن الهلال يحرص على دعم المدارس في غزة كاستجابة طارئة لمواجهة تفشي فيروس كورونا، ولضمان توفير مناخ آمن للطلبة أثناء تعليمهم داخل المدارس.

وأضاف: “نواصل تنفيذ مجموعة من المشاريع الصحية التي تساهم في التخفيف من الظروف الصعبة الناتجة عن انتشار فيروس كورونا، ومنها دعم مشروع تقديم مساعدات عاجلة للوقاية من جائحة فيروس كورونا في قطاع غزة بقيمة إجمالية بلغت 95.000 دولار أمريكي، لخدمة كلٍّ من وزارة الصحة وبلدية غزة، وقد تضمن المشروع توريد 800 شريط فحص لوزارة الصحة الفلسطينية، بالإضافة إلى مواد تعقيم وقفازات ومستهلكات طبية لمخازن الوزارة، وتوفير 13.000 لتر من مواد التطهير (هيبوكلوريد الصوديوم) وأحذية وقفازات جلدية وقائية لتعزيز قدرات بلدية غزة وحماية العاملين بها.
