All Streets within Package Four of Doha Industrial Area Project Opened

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced the opening of all streets within the Roads and Infrastructure Project in Doha Industrial Area (DIA) – Package 4, as part of the authority’s commitment to implement its plan to provide a well-developed road network and fully-integrated services for infrastructure utilities.
In this context, Ashghal’s Project Eng. Mohammed Al Yafei, in the Southern Areas Section in Ashghal’s Roads Projects Department, stressed “the importance of the projects carried out by Ashghal in the Industrial Area and the efficient role they will play once finished in boosting the movement of people and goods, and facilitating transportation and connectivity with main roads and expressways to cope with the economic development in Qatar.”
Eng. Al Yafei added: “The authority previously announced that Packages 1, 2, and 6 are completed, and that roads in these packages were open to traffic. Collectively they serve about 2,000 plots and provide 76 km of roads.”
As part of Package 4 scope, upgrading works included infrastructure development in addition to developing main roads like Al Wakalat Street and Al Karajat Street, along with other intersecting streets located in between, like Streets nos. 23, 25, 26, and 28. This comes as part of Ashghal’s commitment to improve traffic flow and ease congestion in the Industrial Area.
Speaking about the benefits of the project, Eng. Mohammed Al Yafei, said: “The development works in this package serve 679 plots, including retail stores and workshops, as they provide access to shops and residential properties. As part of the scope, 9 km of roads were upgraded, whilst providing road safety elements, constructing 849 car parks, and providing lighting systems and road signs, with 286 lighting poles being installed.
Moreover, signalized intersections were constructed on Al-Wakalat Street, Al Karajat Street, and Streets nos. 15 and 23.”
“The Roads and Infrastructure Project in Doha Industrial Area – Package 4 provided infrastructure utility lines, as the scope involved constructing a 16.3 km groundwater and stormwater drainage network.” Eng. Al Yafei added.
Eng. Al Yafei then explained that remaining works within this package will include finishing off laying the final layers of asphalt, road markings work and connecting some electrical and other utility services’ cables to the side of the street.
It is worth noting that the authority relied on local manufacturers and materials in most of the project’s works, with the local component comprising 90 percent of total materials used. Qatari resources will be used to supply items such as gabbro, lighting poles and lamps, road signs, foul sewer and stormwater pipes, concrete and precast manholes, in addition to concrete and reinforcing steel.

الدوحة: أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ عن فتح جميع الطرق أمام الحركة المرورية، ضمن أعمال الحزمة الرابعة لمشروع تطوير الطرق والبنية التحتية بالمنطقة الصناعية بالدوحة، وذلك في إطار التزام الهيئة بتنفيذ خطتها في توفير شبكة طرق متطورة وخدمات متكاملة لخطوط شبكات البنية التحتية.
وتتمثل الأعمال التي تم تنفيذها ضمن الحزمة الرابعة، علاوة على تطوير خدمات البنية التحتية، في تطوير الشوارع الرئيسية بالمنطقة مثل شارع الوكالات وشارع الكراجات وما بينهما من شوارع داخلية متقاطعة معهما وذلك حرصاً من /أشغال/ على تحسين انسيابية الحركة المرورية وتخفيف الازدحام بالمنطقة الصناعية.
وأكد السيد محمد اليافعي، مهندس المشروع بإدارة مشروعات الطرق في /أشغال/، أهمية المشاريع التي تنفذها الهيئة في المنطقة الصناعية، والدور الفعال الذي تلعبه في إنعاش حركة البضائع والأفراد وتسهيل التنقل والربط مع الطرق الرئيسية وشبكة الطرق السريعة، بما يتواكب مع التطور الاقتصادي في البلاد.
وأشار إلى أن الهيئة كانت قد أعلنت سابقاً عن الانتهاء من الحزم الأولى والثانية والسادسة وفتح الشوارع فيها أمام الحركة المرورية، موضحاً أن هذه الحزم مجتمعة تشكل إجمالي طرق بطول 76 كيلومترا.
وأوضح اليافعي أن الحزمة الرابعة من المشروع تخدم محلات تجارية وورشا كهربائية، وتوفر مداخل تخدم المحلات التجارية والسكان، وقد تم تطوير 9 كيلومترات من الطرق مع توفير عناصر السلامة، وإنشاء 849 موقفا للسيارات وتوفير نظم الإنارة واللوحات الإرشادية، حيث تم تركيب 286 عموداً للإنارة، علاوة على إنشاء تقاطعات بإشارات ضوئية على كل من شارع الوكالات وشارع 15 وشارع 23 وشارع الكراجات.
وأضاف أنه تم ضمن المشروع توفير خطوط شبكات البنية التحتية، حيث تم إنشاء شبكة تصريف المياه السطحية والمياه الجوفية بطول 16.3كم.
ولفت إلى أن الأعمال المتبقية ضمن هذه الحزمة تتمثل في تنفيذ الطبقة النهائية للأسفلت وعلامات الطريق على بعض الشوارع، إلى جانب ربط بعض الخطوط الكهربائية وغيرها من خطوط خدمات البنية التحتية على جانبي الطريق.
جدير بالذكر أنه قد تم الاعتماد على مواد ومصنعين محليين في أغلب أعمال المشروع لتصل نسبة المكون المحلي إلى 90 بالمئة من إجمالي المواد المستخدمة، حيث يتم الاعتماد على المصادر المحلية القطرية لتوريد عناصر مثل الجابرو وأعمدة ومصابيح الإنارة واللوحات الإرشادية وأنابيب الصرف الصحي وتصريف مياه الأمطار والإسفلت والمناهل مسبقة الصنع، بالإضافة إلى الخرسانة وحديد التسليح.
