Kenya removes quarantine requirement for vaccinated travellers from Qatar

All vaccinated travellers from Qatar will be exempted from quarantine in Kenya, authorities have announced.

The new policy, which took effect on October 4, listed 208 countries whose citizens and residents can enter Kenya without quarantine as long as they are fully vaccinated.

However, all passengers arriving in Kenya must have a valid COVID-19 negative PCR test certificate conducted within 96 hours before travel.

According to the statement, all travelers will be expected to fill the travellers’ locator form and submit it before traveling to http://bit.ly/covid19moh and submit daily health information to the “jitenge” platform for 14 consecutive days.

Also, diplomats and senior government officials will be exempt from quarantine but must have a negative PCR test conducted within 96 hours before travel.

“This will now allow all vaccinated Qataris to enter Kenya without being quarantined. This has come because currently, Kenya registers a low positive COVID-19 rate almost similar to Qatar,” Ambassador of Kenya to Qatar H E Paddy C Ahenda, told The Peninsula.

“Recently, there has been a high influx of Qataris heading to Kenya for the annual migration in the Maasai Mara (herds are making their way between Tanzania’s Serengeti and Kenya’s Maasai Mara natural Reserve from July to October). This has greatly attracted a significant number of tourists from Qatar. By placing Qatar on the green states’ list, it will help to boost more tourist arrivals to Kenya,” he added. This new policy also comes as positive news for the over 30,000 Kenyans living and working in Qatar.

However, travellers from Brunei, Thailand, and Kuwait are still required to quarantine for 14 days at a government facility, the policy stated.

وأضاف البيان: كما تم إعفاء الدبلوماسيين القطريين والكينيين العائدين وحاملي تصاريح الإقامة الكينية سارية المفعول والعابرين عبر قطر من إجراءات العزل المنزلي لمدة (7) أيام، علماً أن التعميم المحدث أعلاه دخل حيز النفاذ في تاريخ 04/10/2021.
