QRCS activates Disaster Information Management Center to respond to Izmir Earthquake

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced the activation of the Disaster Information Management Center (DIMC) to respond to the Izmir earthquake, which occurred in the Republic of Turkey in an immediate response.
QRCSs representation mission in Turkey was mobilized, to keep updated and timely informed about the situation, in coordination with the Turkish Red Crescent and engaged international humanitarian organizations.
Initial needs include emergency shelter (tents, tarpaulins, and repair kits), drinking water, readymade food meals, psychological support, personal hygiene kits, and nonfood items (blankets, winter clothes, and kitchenware).
HE Secretary-General of QRCS Ambassador Ali bin Hassan Al Hammadi was keen to open permanent communication channels with Dr. Ibrahim Altan, Director-General of the Turkish Red Crescent, to discuss the situation and agree on joint action, in order to help the victims and minimize the negative impact on the local communities.
“We are there for the brotherly Turkish people in this calamity,” said Al-Hammadi. “The leaders and relief officers of both QRCS and the Turkish Red Crescent are working closely together. All our available human and logistic resources are aligned to help the affected families, ensuring rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need, especially with the advent of the winter”, he added.

الدوحة: أعلن الهلال الأحمر القطري يوم الأمس، عن تفعيل غرفة عمليات الطوارئ لمركز إدارة المعلومات في قطاع إدارة الكوارث للاستجابة لزلزال إزمير، الذي وقع في جمهورية تركيا في استجابة عاجلة .
كما تم التواصل مع بعثة الهلال الأحمر القطري التمثيلية في تركيا ، من أجل متابعة التطورات وجمع المعلومات اللازمة، تمهيداً للتدخل الإغاثي بالتنسيق مع الهلال الأحمر التركي والمنظمات الدولية المشاركة في الاستجابة.
وبحسب التقديرات المبدئية، فإن أهم الاحتياجات العاجلة تتركز حول الإيواء الطارئ (مثل الخيم والأغطية البلاستيكية وأدوات إصلاح المنازل)، ومياه الشرب، والوجبات الغذائية، والدعم النفسي، وحزم النظافة الشخصية، والمواد غير الغذائية (مثل البطانيات والملابس الشتوية وأدوات الطبخ).
وحرص سعادة السفير علي بن حسن الحمادي، الأمين العام للهلال الأحمر القطري، على فتح قنوات اتصال دائم مع الدكتور إبراهيم ألتان، المدير العام للهلال الأحمر التركي الشقيق ، من أجل الاطلاع على تطورات الوضع وبحث سبل التكاتف وتكامل الجهود، لمساعدة ضحايا الكارثة والحد من آثارها السلبية على المجتمعات المحلية المتضررة .
وقال الحمادي في تصريح له: “كل الدعم والمساندة للشعب التركي الشقيق في مصابه الأليم “، مشيرا إلى أن هناك تواصلا مستمرا بين قيادات الهلالين القطري والتركي وكذلك مسؤولي الإغاثة بالجمعيتين الشقيقتين. وأضاف: “نحن على استعداد لتسخير كل إمكاناتنا البشرية واللوجستية المتاحة في سبيل التخفيف عن الأسر المتضررة، وضمان سرعة وصول المساعدات الإنسانية إلى المحتاجين لها، وخصوصاً مع دخول فصل الشتاء”.
