Washington: Scientists from the University of Illinois, USA, managed to kill 95% of breast cancer cells.
According to Science Translational Medicine, university scientists have created ErSO, which kills all primary tumors and metastases, and laboratory tests on mice have shown that they tolerate even large doses of the drug, and that the number of cancer cells decreased on average a few days after the test began by 99 %.
The unique features of this drug are the absence of any side effects, and the effectiveness of ErSO depends on estrogen receptors found in most breast tumors, and when the drug is docked, it activates the a-UPR cellular pathway, which creates cells affected by rapid growth and protects them from stress.
“Even when a few cancer cells survive the effect of the drug, allowing tumors to grow within a few months, these tumors remain very sensitive to the drug and can be eliminated using the drug again,” says biochemist David Shapiro.
Researchers plan to test the effectiveness of the drug in humans and whether the drug is effective against other types of cancer.

ويقول عالم الكيمياء الحيوية ديفيد شابيرو، “حتى عند نجاة بضع خلايا سرطانية من تأثير العقار، ما يسمح بنمو الأورام خلال بضعة أشهر، تبقى هذه الأورام حساسة جدا للعقار ويمكن القضاء عليها باستخدام العقار مرة ثانية”.
ويخطط الباحثون لاختبار فعالية الدواء على البشر وما إذا كان هذا العقار فعالا ضد أنواع أخرى من السرطان.
