MIA Announces Artists Participating in Ektashif 2

Doha: The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) announced yesterday the participating artists for Ektashif 2, an annual initiative that will this year see eight Qataris join MIA staff on a seven-day trip to Istanbul, Turkey. The trip is hosted in collaboration with Doha Capital of Culture in the Islamic World for 2021′ and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Participating artists for this year’s educational trip include Muna Al Bader, Mashael Hejazi, Naima Al Hail, Ali Al Kuwari, Zainab Al Shibani, Salha Al Subaie, Ahmed Al Ali, and Nouf Al Muraikhi. A committee comprising established artists across many disciplines and sectors selected this year’s participating artists, including Ismael Azzam, artist and advisor for Public Art at Qatar Museums; Noura Al Ma’adadi, artist and Director of Art Programs at the Museum of Islamic Art; Huda Al Yafei, artist and Director of the Visual Arts Center representing the Ministry of Culture and Sports; Hanadi Al Darwish, consultant artist at the Ministry of Culture and Sports; and Abeer Al Kuwari, an artist and photographer.

Salem Abdulla Al Aswad, Deputy Director of MIA and Director of Learning and Outreach said, “We are proud of this strategic partnership between the Museum of Islamic Art and the Ministry of Culture and Sports. Ektashif 2 is part of a wide range of cultural and artistic programs hosted as part of the Doha Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021. We extend thanks to the organising committee, and we look forward to a continued and fruitful partnership.”

Hamad Al Athba, General Coordinator of the activities of Doha, Capital of Culture in the Islamic World 2021, congratulated the winning artists for being selected for the trip to Turkey. Commenting on the strong ties with Qatar Museums, he said: “The partnership with Qatar Museums supports artistic talent and potential. It also provides a great opportunity for artistic self-expression while exploring the beauty of Islamic art, rich heritage, archaeological sites and architecture.”

Qatari citizens who had never previously participated in Ektashif and are practicing artists were invited to apply for the trip. The selection process sought to discover Qatari artists who have not yet gained recognition. Moreover, a mix of established and emerging artists was selected to allow for the exchange of ideas and experiences.

Ektashif 2 aims to introduce Qatari artists to new Islamic art through dedicated workshops and touring sites in Istanbul. Over the course of seven days, artists will have the opportunity to visit both sides of Istanbul separated by the Bosphorus strait and explore the architectural details of historical monuments.

Artist Ismael Azzam, wished the artists all the best, saying: “This trip is an opportunity for young people and the new generation to become familiar with the Islamic and traditional arts in Turkey. It’s an ideal artistic destination for every artist, as it includes landmarks, buildings, and museums through which many artistic styles can be discovered.”

For her part, artist Noura Al Ma’adadi said: “The Museum of Islamic Art has many initiatives that support artists in Qatar. The museum constantly offers new learning opportunities and provides workshops on Islamic art. I extend thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Sports for supporting this artistic educational journey.”

الدوحة: أعلن متحف الفن الإسلامي يوم الأمس، عن أسماء المشاركين في برنامج /اكتشف 2/، المبادرة السنوية التي ستشهد هذا العام مشاركة ثمانية فنانين قطريين.

وتتضمن قائمة المشاركين هذا العام الفنانين: منى البدر، مشاعل حجازي، نعيمة الهيل، علي الكواري، زينب الشيباني، صالحة السبيعي، أحمد العلي، ونوف المريخي.

وسيحظى الفنانون المشاركون برحلة تعليمية إلى مدينة /إسطنبول/ التركية وذلك بالتعاون مع اللجنة المنظمة لفعاليات /الدوحة عاصمة الثقافة في العالم الإسلامي لعام 2021/ ووزارة الثقافة والرياضة.

وأوضح متحف الفن الإسلامي، أنه تم تشكيل لجنة من فنانين متمرسين في مجالات فنية متنوعة ومن قطاعات مختلفة، حيث اجتمعت في السابع من سبتمبر الجاري لاختيار المشاركين في برنامج /اكتشف 2/.

وضمت اللجنة السيد إسماعيل عزام ، فنان ومستشار للفن العام في متاحف قطر، والسيدة نورة المعضادي، فنانة ورئيسة قسم الفن وبرامج الفن في متحف الفن الإسلامي، والسيدة هدى اليافعي، فنانة ومدير مركز الفنون البصرية ممثلة لوزارة الثقافة والرياضة، والسيدة هنادي الدرويش، فنانة ومستشارة في وزارة الثقافة والرياضة، والسيدة عبير الكواري، فنانة ومصورة فوتوغرافية.

وقال السيد سالم عبدالله الأسود نائب مدير متحف الفن الإسلامي ومدير إدارة التعليم وتوعية المجتمع بالمتحف، في تصريح له، إن متحف الفن الإسلامي يفخر بهذه الشراكة الاستراتيجية مع وزارة الثقافة والرياضة، مشيرا إلى أن برنامج /اكتشف 2/، يأتي ضمن مجموعة واسعة من البرامج والأنشطة الثقافية والفنية التي تأتي جميعها تحت مظلة /الدوحة عاصمة الثقافة في العالم الإسلامي 2021/.

من جهته قال السيد حمد العذبة المنسق العام لفعاليات /الدوحة عاصمة الثقافة في العالم الإسلامي 2021/، إن هذه الشراكة تأتي تعزيزًا للطاقات الفنية القطرية، التي تتمتع بدرجة عالية من الإمكانات والموهبة، ما يجعلها جديرة بالدعم المستحق لها، كما أنها ستكون فرصة كبيرة للتعبير عن الذات الفنية، واستحضار ما لديها من تراكمات ومواهب، بالإضافة إلى إبراز جمال الفنون الإسلامية، وما تتسم به المعالم التراثية والأثرية من ثراء تاريخي، وتفرد معماري.

ووضعت اللجنة عدة معايير للاختيار، منها أن يكون المرشح قطريا لم يسبق له المشاركة من قبل في هذه الرحلة، وأن يتمتع بخبرة جيدة في مجال الفن، وإعطاء فرصة لاكتشاف المواهب القطرية الجديدة التي لم تظهر من قبل، فضلًا عن اختيار بعض الفنانين ذوي الخبرة الكبيرة ودمجهم مع الجيل الناشئ من أجل تبادل الأفكار والخبرات وخلق بيئة جيدة للتعلم.

وتهدف الرحلة إلى إكساب الفنانين القطريين خبرة جديدة في الفن الإسلامي، من خلال المشاركة في ورش عمل فنية، وزيارة معالم مدينة إسطنبول، واستكشاف عجائب عالم الفن الإسلامي الأصيل.

من جانبها قالت الفنانة نورة المعضادي رئيسة قسم الفن وبرامج الفن في متحف الفن الإسلامي:” لطالما قدّم المتحف الإسلامي العديد من المبادرات التي تدعم الفن والفنانين في قطر من خلال توفير فرص جديدة للتعليم وتقديم الورش المختصة بالفن الإسلامي”.

ويعد برنامج /اكتشف/،أحدث الأنشطة التي أطلقتها إدارة التعليم بمتحف الفن الإسلامي، وتهدف إلى إلهام الجيل المقبل من المبدعين من خلال تعريفهم على أشكال جديدة من الفنون.
