Differing views on preventing hikers from entering al-Wakrah port

Doha: Fishermen’s views differed on the decision of the authority responsible for the fishing port of Al-Wakrah to prevent the entry of hikers, and limiting it only to fishermen and ship and boat owners, while opponents believe that fishing ports in Qatar have been and continue to be one of the most important tourist facilities for families and young people who roam them in their vehicles, and others practice fishing on the pavements of those ports, supporters of this decision believe that fishing ports do not include tourist services and there are nearby tourist facilities that visitors can benefit from, In addition to reducing thefts that fishermen suffer from, and waste that is disposed of indiscriminately on port piers by hikers, they pointed out that some, especially workers, break into wooden ships and boats for hook fishing, and may mess with their contents.

They stressed that fishing ports in most countries of the world are facilities reserved only for fishermen, sailors, boat and ship owners, not a public facility that everyone is allowed to enter, and that closure is necessary for security reasons, noting that it is in the public interest to allow entry only to those groups in order to avoid tampering, theft or contamination of the place with waste.

However, opponents of the resolution believe that practical solutions can be found for the reasons why the competent authority made the decision to prevent hikers, noting that thefts to which some fishermen are exposed can be reduced by the installation of cameras at fishing ports by the relevant authority, and the spread of waste can be eliminated by increasing garbage bins. They confirm that they support the development of fishing ports and the provision of attractions through food and beverage carts and the provision of toilets and other needs.

الدوحة: تباينت آراءُ الصيادين حول توجّه الجهة المسؤولة عن ميناء الصيد بالوكرة لمنع دخول المتنزهين، واقتصاره فقط على الصيادين وأصحاب السفن والمراكب، فبينما يرى المعارضون أن موانئ الصيد في قطر كانت وما زالت واحدة من أهم المرافق السياحية للأسر والشباب الذين يتجوّلون فيها بمركباتهم، كما يقوم آخرون بممارسة مهنة الصيد بالسنارة على أرصفة تلك الموانئ، يرى المؤيدون لهذا التوجه أن موانئ الصيد لا تضم خدمات سياحية وتقع بالقرب منها مرافق سياحية يمكن للزوار الاستفادة منها، فضلًا عن الحدّ من السرقات التي يتعرض لها الصيادون، ومن المخلفات التي يتم التخلص منها بصورة عشوائية على أرصفة الموانئ من قبل المتنزهين، ولفتوا إلى أن أن البعض وخاصة العمالة يقتحمون السفن الخشبية والقوارب لممارسة هواية الصيد بالسنارة، وقد يقومون بالبعث بمحتوياتها.

وأكدوا أن موانئ الصيد في معظم دول العالم من المرافق المخصصة فقط لفئة الصيادين والبحارة وأصحاب المراكب والسفن، وليست مرفقًا عامًا يسمح للجميع بدخوله، كما أن إغلاقها أمر ضروري لدواعٍ أمنية، مشيرين إلى أن المصلحة العامة تقتضي ألا يُسمح بدخولها إلا لتلك الفئات تجنبًا لأعمال العبث أو السرقات أو تلويث المكان بالمخلفات.

غير أن المعارضين للقرار يرون أنه يمكن إيجاد الحلول العملية للأسباب التي جعلت الجهة المختصة تتخذ قرار منع المتنزهين، مشيرين إلى أنه يمكن الحد من السرقات التي يتعرض لها بعض الصيادين عبر قيام الجهة المعنية بتركيب كاميرات في موانئ الصيد، وبالنسبة لانتشار المخلفات يمكن القضاء عليها بزيادة صناديق القمامة. ويؤكد هؤلاء أنهم مع تطوير موانئ الصيد وتوفير عوامل الجذب السياحي فيها عبر عربات الطعام والمشروبات وتزويدها بدورات المياه وغيرها من الاحتياجات الأخرى.
