Sheikha Hind completes her first Olympic distance triathlon

Doha: CEO of Qatar Foundation HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani completed her first Olympic distance triathlon at the Hamburg Wasser 2021 World Triathlon Championship Series, which is world’s biggest triathlon race.
HE Sheikha Hind shared the pride and joy of her participation on Instagram along with her pictures from the event and said: “I’m proud of my achievement. After getting cancelled and then postponed, I wasn’t even sure if I was ever going to race.”
“I won’t lie, I felt disappointment because of circumstances beyond anything training could have prepared me for. My feet were numb from the cold for the entire bike race and for most of the run. I felt I could have done better. But that’s the competitor in me, and it’s fuel for my next race,” she added.
Expressing pride at her achievement, HE Sheikha Hind thanked the support she got from her family, friends and the coaches who gave her the confidence to follow through. “From my dad cheering me on after my swim sessions, my mum advising me on which bike to take, my husband’s words of support (and looking after the kids!) and my brother making sure my experience will forever be preserved. And of course, my cheerleaders, sisters and the biggest motivation I had on that day. All of this made my experience that more special,” she wrote.
She also added that she was grateful for all the facilities that she was able to train in – from the Olympic cycling track, to Aspire Academy, Oxygen Park, 5/6 Park, and the Education City recreation center and stadium.
As she concluded her post, she added a special thanks to the Arab volunteers throughout the race who kept cheering for her on seeing the Qatar flag on her arm.
Qatar Olympic Committee congratulated HE Sheikha Hind on their social media tweeting, “We are proud of Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al-Thani who completed the world’s biggest triathlon race in Hamburg, Germany.”

الدوحة: أنهت سعادة الشيخة هند بنت حمد آل ثاني، نائب رئيس مجلس إدارة مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع والرئيس التنفيذي للمؤسسة أكبر سباقات الترايثلون على مستوى العالم، والتي أقيمت في مدينة هامبورغ الألمانية.
وقالت سعادتها في منشور على حسابها بموقع الانستجرام: أنا فخورة بانجازي بعد الإلغاء ثم التأجيل، لم أستطع فعل ذلك بمفردي. منحني الدعم الذي حصلت عليه من عائلتي وأصدقائي ومدربي الثقة للمتابعة .
وأضافت سعادتها: ” أنا ممتنة لجميع التسهيلات التي تمكنت من التدريب فيها ؛ من مضمار الدراجات الأولمبي إلى أكاديمية أسباير وحديقة الأكسجين ومنتزه 5/6 ومركز EC الترفيهي والملعب”.
كما وجهت سعادتها شكرا خاصا للمتطوعين العرب الذين ظلوا يهتفون كلما رأوا العلم القطري على ذراعيها طوال السباق.
بدورها أشادت اللجنة الأولمبية القطرية بإنهاء سعادتها للسباق في تغريدة على حسابها بموقع تويتر قائلة: “فخورون بسعادة الشيخة هند بنت حمد آل ثاني التي أنهت أكبر سباقات الترايثلون على مستوى العالم في مدينة هامبورغ الألمانية”.
