Installation of Decorative Light Poles on Doha Corniche Starts

Doha: The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar has announced the commencement of works for installing 1440 palm-frond designed light poles to decorate Corniche Road. These works are expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2022.
Chairman of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar Eng. Mohammad Arqoub Al Khaldi said that the installation works of the light poles have commenced. The light poles are manufactured locally, using local raw materials. The design itself is inspired from palm fronds, which reflect the Qatari identity, thereby decorating the road with the beautiful shape of the palm fronds. This turns the light poles into artwork, which adds an exceptional appearance to Doha’s beachfront.
About the execution of the works, Acting Head of External Highways Eng. Hasan Al Ghanim stated that the light poles utilize LED bulbs to point out the beauty of their design during nighttime. Further, the light poles will be installed along a distance reaching 10KM on the Corniche road, as they will be distributed in the middle and on the side of the roads stretching from Ras Abou Aboud flyover, until the light signals adjacent to the Convention halls close to the Sheraton.
The committee works in coordination with several ministries and other entities of the State for the construction of central public parks, provision of dedicated lanes for pedestrians and bicycles, development of the Doha Corniche, development of Central Doha, and increasing trees and green areas.

الدوحة: بدأت لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة تنفيذ أعمال تركيب نحو 1440 عمود إنارة تجميلية بتصميم سعف النخيل، لتزيين كورنيش الدوحة والمخطط الانتهاء منها في الربع الثاني من عام 2022.
وفي هذا الصدد أوضح المهندس محمد عرقوب الخالدي، رئيس لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالدولة، أنه تم البدء بتنفيذ أعمال تركيب أعمدة الإنارة التي تم تصنيعها في مصانع وطنية وبمواد محلية، حيث أن تصميمها مقتبس من سعفة النخيل التي تعكس الهوية القطرية ويضفي طابعا مميزا للواجهة البحرية في الدوحة.
وحول أعمال التنفيذ، بين المهندس حسن الغانم رئيس قسم مشاريع الطرق الخارجية السريعة بالإنابة بهيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/، أن أعمدة الإنارة تم تزويدها بمصابيح /ليد/ LED لتبرز جمال تصميمها ليلا، مشيرا إلى أن عملية التركيب جارية على امتداد شارع الكورنيش بطول يصل إلى 10 كيلو مترات في وسط وأطراف الطريق الممتد من جسر راس بوعبود وحتى إشارة قاعة المؤتمرات بالقرب من فندق الشيراتون.
وتعمل لجنة الإشراف على تجميل الطرق والأماكن العامة بالتنسيق مع عدة وزارات وهيئات حكومية بالدولة على إنشاء حدائق عامة مركزية وحدائق الفرجان، وتوفير مسارات خاصة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية، وتطوير كورنيش الدوحة، وتطوير منطقة الدوحة المركزية بالإضافة إلى أعمال التشجير وزيادة المسطحات الخضراء.
