HIA and Qatar Airways affirm eagerness to take all COVID-19 preventive measures

Doha: Hamad International Airport (HIA) affirmed its keenness to achieve the highest safety standards for travelers and employees working at the airport by taking all preventive and precautionary measures against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in implementation of the directives the wise leadership, while Qatar Airways announced the suspension of its flights to some of the cities where the epidemic is spreading, such as New York, Madrid, and Barcelona, in the context of these precautionary measures that guarantee the safety and health of all travelers and airport workers.
This came in a joint press conference held by the Chief Operating Officer of HIA Eng. Badr Al Meer, and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Qatar Airways Salam Al Shawa, on the latest developments and measures taken to prevent Coronavirus.
Badr Al Meer stressed that all operations at HIA witness fruitful and effective cooperation between the various entities working at the airport, such as the ministries of the Interior, Public Health, Transport and Communications, and the Qatar Airways Group, to ensure the highest safety standards for travelers and employees working at the airport.
Al Meer pointed out that the main reason for the continuation of some Qatar Airways operations is the return of the Qatari citizens present in the affected countries to the homeland. He said that Qatar Airways has a great responsibility towards the country and the citizen, the most important of which is the evacuation and return of Qatari citizens to the homeland from the affected countries, and this is the main reason for the continuation of Qatar Airways operations.
Some Qatari citizens are still abroad for study, treatment or work in addition to the families, the elderly, children, and youth present in some of the affected countries, and this requires Qatar Airways, as a national carrier, to take the necessary measures to return them to the homeland as soon as possible to preserve their safety before matters become more complicated in these countries, that could reach the stage of airport closures, he explained.
The Chief Operating Officer of Hamad International Airport also stressed that no passenger is transported via Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport without ensuring that the airports of the final destinations are open with no restrictions on air traffic and passenger reception. He noted that some of the passengers of Hamad International Airport faced difficulties when countries decided to cancel their flights or close airports.
He pointed out that Hamad International Airport, in cooperation with the ministries of Interior, Communications and Transport, and Public Health, provided assistance for travelers who had problems reaching their final destinations.
He stressed that Hamad International Airport has taken all preventive measures in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, including the reduction of the number of employees at the airport by 40 percent, who are now working remotely. He added that 60 percent of workers are receiving training on things like how to deal with travelers.
He also said that the airport was undergoing sterilization operations that take place around the clock, with closures in the duty free and all shops except for some restaurants in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the decisions of the Ministry of Public Health. He said that all of the airports workers will undergo testing in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health.
On maintaining transit operations, he said that Qatar Airways was one of the biggest airlines in the world, and noted that there are a number of airports around the world that remain open that has taken all the necessary precautions against the spread of the virus.
The COO noted that operations decreased by a very large percentage, with operations of Qatar Airways down more than 75 percent with the suspension of more than 75 of its fleet, with the decline likely to reach 90 percent soon. He also said that the number of passengers at Hamad International Airport fell by 90 percent compared to days before the crisis.
He reiterated that the continuation of operations was due to humanitarian reasons, including the repatriation of Qatari citizens, and the transportation of medicines and medical equipment that require urgent transportation via freight or by passenger aircraft. He also pointed out that 60 percent of the food coming to Doha arrives via passenger planes and not through air cargo planes because some airports prevent cargo planes from landing in them.
For her part Al Shawa said that the carrier’s top priority is ensuring safety and security, saying that it has taken all the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of its passengers and staff.
Qatar Airways suspended its flights to cities like New York, Madrid, and Barcelona to ensure the safety of passengers. She noted that Qatar Airways is also a global company with responsibilities towards its community. She said that the company has played a role in transporting medical supplies to countries like China and Iran. The carrier also cooperated with the Sultanate of Oman to transport dozens of Omani students that were trapped in the UK and the US.
She stressed that all crew members on Qatar Airways are committed to all health procedures and requirements such as wearing gloves and masks, as well as the use of sterilizers and other health requirements to maintain their safety and the safety of travelers. The crew has also been trained to maintain the safe distance between them and travelers. Crew members are also screened before and after every trip. She also said that those who were infected were not working, but rather were on their annual vacation.
She stressed that all workers and crews on board the Qatar Airways planes are trained to deal with any cases, and take all necessary precautionary measures in this regard. She added that the carrier operates two crews for short trips, one for the outbound flight and the other to return in order to prevent the stay of crews in other countries.

وأكد المير أن جميع العمليات في المطار تشهد تعاوناً مثمراً وفعالاً بين مختلف الجهات العاملة في المطار، مثل وزارات الداخلية والصحة العامة والمواصلات والاتصالات ومجموعة الخطوط الجوية القطرية، وذلك لضمان أعلى معايير السلامة للمسافرين وللموظفين العاملين في المطار.
إعادة المواطنين
وأشار المهندس المير إلى أن السبب الرئيسي في استمرار بعض عمليات «القطرية» هو إعادة المواطنين الموجودين في الدول الموبوءة إلى أرض الوطن. وقال: «يقع على عاتق الخطوط الجوية القطرية مسؤولية كبيرة تجاه الوطن والمواطن، وأهمها موضوع إجلاء وإعادة المواطنين إلى أرض الوطن من الدول الموبوءة، وهذا يعدّ السبب الرئيسي لاستمرار عمليات الخطوط القطرية».
وأضاف: «هناك مواطنون قطريون ما زالوا في الخارج للدراسة أو للعلاج أو العمل، إضافة إلى أسر وكبار سنّ وأطفال وشباب موجودين في بعض الدول الموبوءة، وهذا يحتّم علينا كناقل وطني اتخاذ الإجراءات اللازمة لإعادتهم إلى أرض الوطن في أقرب وقت ممكن؛ حفاظاً على سلامتهم قبل أن تزيد الأمور تعقيداً في هذه الدول، تصل إلى مرحلة إغلاق المطارات».
كما أكد المير أنه لا يتم نقل أي مسافر عبر «القطرية» والمطار دون التأكد من أن مطارات الوجهة النهائية للمسافرين مفتوحة، وليست فيها أي قيود على حركة الطيران واستقبال المسافرين؛ مشيراً إلى أن بعض المسافرين في المطار واجهوا بالفعل صعوبات عندما قررت دول إلغاء رحلاتهم أو إغلاق المطار وهم في طريقهم إليها.
ولفت في هذا السياق إلى أن مطار حمد الدولي وفّر، بالتعاون مع وزارات الداخلية والمواصلات والاتصالات والصحة العامة، كل السبل لهؤلاء المسافرين الذين واجهوا مشاكل في الوصول إلى وجهاتهم النهائية؛ مضيفاً: «طرحنا على المسافرين وعلى دولهم أكثر من خيار بغرض تسهيل نقلهم من مطار حمد الدولي إلى وجهتهم النهائية أو إلى دولهم، واضعين في الاعتبار كل معايير السلامة خلال فترة وجودهم في المطار، مثل منع اختلاطهم مع آخرين، وتوفير فريق طبي على مدار الساعة، إلى جانب توفير خدمة الفحص الطبي بالتعاون مع وزارة الصحة العامة؛ للتأكد من سلامتهم وخلوهم من الفيروس».
%60 من المواد الغذائية المستوردة تصل عبر طائرات المسافرين
تخفيض عدد الموظفين في المطار بواقع %40 .. وعمليات التعقيم مستمرة
أكد السيد بدر المير أن مطار حمد الدولي اتخذ التدابير الوقائية كافة بالتنسيق مع وزارة الصحة العامة، إلى جانب تخفيض عدد الموظفين في المطار بواقع 40 % والذين يعملون الآن عن بُعد، فيما تجرى دورات تدريبية لنحو 60 %، وخصوصاً للفئة البسيطة منهم، والذين يتعاملون مع المسافرين.
كما أشار إلى عمليات تعقيم المطار التي تجري على مدار الساعة، وإغلاق السوق الحرة وجميع المحلات باستثناء بعض المطاعم، وفقاً لاشتراطات وزارة التجارة والصناعة، وقرارات وزارة الصحة العامة، وفرض إجراءات صحية صارمة على المسافرين القادمين إلى الدوحة، إلى جانب إغلاق أجزاء كبيرة من المطار، حيث يجري العمل في ثلاثة أجزاء فقط «أي، وبي، وسي»، وتوقع إغلاق اثنين منها «أي وبي» قريباً. وبشأن استثناء رحلات الترانزيت، أوضح أن المطار والخطوط الجوية القطرية يعتبران من أكبر الشركات والجهات العاملة في مجال الطيران على مستوى العالم، وقال: «نحن نعلم أن عدداً من المطارات حول العالم لم تغلق حتى الآن، ومتخذة إجراءاتها الاحترازية للحد من انتشار فيروس كورونا، ومطار حمد الدولي يعمل أسوة بهذه المطارات العالمية باعتباره مطاراً مهماً على خارطة النقل الدولي».
عمليات
وفي المقابل، أشار المهندس المير إلى أن حجم العمليات انخفض بنسبة كبيرة جداً، إذ نزل حجم عمليات القطرية أكثر من 75 %، مع توقف أكثر من 75 % من أسطولها، وقد يصل إلى 90 % قريباً، كما بيّن أن عدد المسافرين في المطار تراجع بنسبة 90 % مقارنة بأيام ماضية قبل الأزمة. وجدد التأكيد على أن استمرار العمليات يعود إلى أسباب إنسانية، منها إعادة المواطنين القطريين إلى وطنهم، ونقل الأدوية والمعدات الطبية التي تتطلب نقلاً عاجلاً عبر الشحن أو عبر طائرات المسافرين. كما أشار إلى أن 60 % من المواد الغذائية القادمة إلى الدوحة تصل عن طريق طائرات المسافرين وليس عبر طائرات الشحن الجوي، بسبب منع بعض المطارات طائرات الشحن من الهبوط فيها، وقال: «هذه أسباب جعلتنا نستمر في جزء من عملياتنا تلبية للسوق المحلي».
الناقلة قامت بنقل مساعدات طبية للدول المصابة بالفيروس
الشوا: تعليق رحلات «القطرية» إلى المدن الموبوءة بـ«كورونا»
قالت السيدة سلام الشوا نائب أول الرئيس التنفيذي للتسويق والاتصالات والإعلام بالخطوط الجوية القطرية، إن من أولويات العمل في الناقلة ضمان الأمن والسلامة، مؤكدة أن الناقلة تتخذ كل الإجراءات لأمن وسلامة المسافرين والموظفين الأرضيين وطواقم الضيافة، لتحقيق سفر آمن للجميع.
وأعلنت تعليق الخطوط الجوية القطرية رحلاتها إلى المدن الموبوءة مثل نيويورك ومدريد وبرشلونة، وذلك ضمن الإجراءات التي تقوم بها الناقلة لأمن وسلامة المسافرين.
وفي سياق متصل، شددت على أن إجراءات السلامة متشددة مع طواقم الضيافة، حيث يتم إخضاعهم للفحص قبل كل رحلة وفور عودتهم من الرحلات، مضيفة: «عند الشك بوجود مسافر لديه أعراض كورونا يتم أخذ الطاقم إلى الحجر الصحي».
وأوضحت أن هناك ما يزيد عن 3000 من أفراد طواقم الضيافة يخضعون للحجر الصحي كإجراء وقائي، مشيرة إلى أن 14 شخصاً فقط منهم ظهرت عليهم أعراض الفيروس.
مسؤولية
وحول جهود «القطرية» لمساندة الدول التي تفشى فيها «كورونا»، أوضحت الشوا أن لدى الناقلة مسؤولية مجتمعية وتقوم بدورها تجاه هذه الأزمة، على غرار نقل مساعدات طبية للدول الموبوءة، كما فعلت مع الصين عندما نقلت أكثر من 300 طن في بداية الأزمة، إلى جانب نقل العديد من المساعدات الطبية إلى إيران.
وحول رعايا بعض الدول الذين تقطعت بهم السبل، أوضحت أن الناقلة الوطنية قامت بدورها الإنساني في نقل هؤلاء المسافرين، وكانت مهمتها محل إشادة وتقدير من الحكومات البريطانية والفرنسية والألمانية والباكستانية.
كما أشارت الشوا إلى التعاون مع سلطنة عمان، لنقل عشرات من الطلاب العُمانيين العالقين في بريطانيا والولايات المتحدة، وإعادتهم إلى وطنهم.
ضوابط
وأكدت أن جميع أفراد الطاقم على متن طائرات «القطرية» ملتزمون بكل الإجراءات والاشتراطات الصحية مثل ارتداء القفازات والكمامات واستخدام المعقمات، وغيرها من الاشتراطات الصحية، للحفاظ على سلامتهم وسلامة المسافرين، فيما تم تدريب طواقم الضيافة للحفاظ على المسافة الآمنة بينهم وبين المسافرين، إلى جانب أن الرحلات التي لا تكون مشغولة 100 % يتم تطبيق المسافة الآمنة بين المسافرين.
ولفتت سلام الشوا إلى أن الطائرات التابعة للخطوط القطرية تتمتع بامتلاك أنظمة تنقية عالية المستوى وذات كفاءة عالية، تقضي على نسبة تصل إلى أكثر من 79 % من البكتريا المسببة للأمراض، كما تستخدم معقمات ومطهرات تتصف بأعلى معايير الجودة والكفاءة، ومعتمدة من قبل الاتحاد الدولي للنقل الجوي ومنظمة الصحة العالمية.
كما أشارت السيدة الشوا إلى أنه يتم غسل جميع البطانيات والمفارش والأغطية المستخدمة على متن الرحلات بدرجة حرارة عالية جداً، كما تتم إعادتها من خلال موظفين يرتدون القفازات الطبية.
