UDC posts QR220mn profit in Q1

United Development Company (UDC) has posted a net profit of QR220mn and earned revenue of QR528mn in the first quarter of 2018.

The net profit attributable to equity shareholders stood at QR215mn and basic earnings per share was QR0.61, the master developer of The Pearl-Qatar said yesterday.

UDC chairman Turki bin Mohamed al-Khater said he was pleased to see such performance showing, given the challenging economic conditions that have prevailed.

“These results are especially noteworthy when considering they are a product of UDC’s existing portfolio. With many new developments coming up at The Pearl-Qatar to compliment the properties already in operation, it shows that the future is indeed bright for UDC as we continue to develop The Pearl-Qatar in such a favourable manner”.

“UDC launched Gewan Island, our newest mixed-use real estate development, during Cityscape Exhibition on April 22 offering a new investment and residential venture on the promising local market,” al-Khater added.

UDC president and chief executive officer Ibrahim al-Othman expressed his optimism on UDC’s outlook being prospective.

He said, “It is the variety of innovated properties placed in a first class community setting that sets The Pearl-Qatar apart from its competition and has given UDC the flexibility needed to successfully manage its business through tough times. This distinction is becoming readily apparent with the new projects at Al Mutahidah Towers, Giardino Village, Floresta Gardens and the new island Gewan coming on. We are ambitious about what these new projects will bring as they will allow UDC to realise the great potential of the planned objectives.

“The company has also witnessed a steady increase in the retail leasing occupancy rate at The Pearl-Qatar. The volume of leased retail properties during Q1 2018 increased by 20% compared to the first quarter of 2017, making The Pearl-Qatar a ‘must have’ location for the predominant retailers operating in Doha. UDC has also concluded a major lease agreement with a corporate tenant covering 285 residential units at Medina Centrale commencing in Q2 of 2018.”

“I am pleased to see UDC getting off to a good start in 2018 as this year will become the springboard for our future success. I am optimistic that the course of action set by the company is achievable and will be rewarding to our shareholders, who have put their trust in UDC,” al-Othman added.

أعلنت الشركة المتحدة للتنمية نتائجها المالية لفترة الربع الأول من العام الجاري 2018 والمنتهية في 31 مارس الماضي، حيث حققت الشركة صافي ربح عن تلك الفترة بلغ 220 مليون ريال، وسجلت إيرادات بقيمة 528 مليون ريال، كما بلغت قيمة صافي الربح العائد لحاملي أسهم الشركة الأم 215 مليون ريال، وبلغ الربح الأساسي للسهم 0,61 ريال.

وأوضح السيد تركي بن محمد الخاطر رئيس مجلس إدارة الشركة المتحدة للتنمية، أن النتائج المالية القوية تأتي كثمرة للمنتجات العقارية الحالية للشركة، التي تطرح العديد من مشاريع التطوير العقاري الجديدة في اللؤلؤة-قطر، وهو ما يثبت أن مستقبلها واعد بالإنجازات مع الاستمرار في تطوير اللؤلؤة-قطر بطريقة مجدية وفعالة.

وأفاد بأن الشركة قامت بإطلاق أحدث مشاريعها التطويرية وهو “جزيرة جيوان” خلال معرض سيتي سكيب العقاري الذي اختتمت فعالياته مؤخرا، والتي تضيف خيارا استثماريا وسكنيا جديدا للسوق المحلية الواعدة.

من جانبه، أكد السيد إبراهيم جاسم العثمان الرئيس التنفيذي للشركة المتحدة للتنمية، أن المجموعة المتنوعة من العقارات المبتكرة، هي ما تميز اللؤلؤة-قطر عن أقرب منافسيها، لافتا إلى أن هذا التميز سيصبح أكثر وضوحا مع افتتاح المشاريع الجديدة في أبراج المتحدة، وجياردينو فيلاج، وحدائق فلوريستا، وجزيرة جيوان الجديدة، معربا عن التطلع الإيجابي للنتائج المرتقبة لهذه المشاريع الجديدة، التي ستسمح للشركة بتحقيق الطموحات والأهداف المخططة.

ولفت إلى أن الشركة شهدت أيضا زيادة في نسبة إشغال وتأجير محال التجزئة في مشروع اللؤلؤة-قطر، فقد زاد حجم محال التجزئة المؤجرة خلال الربع الأول من العام الجاري بنسبة 20 بالمائة، مقارنة بالربع الأول من عام 2017، وتم إبرام اتفاقية تأجير رئيسية مع إحدى الشركات المستأجرة لعدد 285 وحدة سكنية في منطقة مدينا سنترال مع بداية الربع الثاني من عام 2018.
