Oxford University mathematician chooses the best player in history of football in a scientific way

Cristiano Ronaldo is officially the greatest player of all time and it’s an irrefutable fact, well at least that’s one algorithm created by a leading maths professor at Oxford University claims.
Ronaldo is amongst those considered the G.O.A.T in football, along with his rival Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona, Pele and a few others.
The newly signed Manchester United forward is the number one in the hearts and minds of many because he’s proved his brilliance in several leagues, and it’s one way he’s topped a new list.
Oxford maths professor Dr Tom Crawford has come up with the G.O.A.T index, in conjunction with LiveScore, to prove who really is the G.O.A.T.
Ronaldo has been given a score of 100%, with Messi, Pele, Ferenc Puskas and Ronaldo Nazario making up the top five, out of players who have won two or more Ballon d’Ors.
The final list of the top 10 players was as follows:

There are seven criteria that has seen Ronaldo top the list, and you’ll have to decide for yourself if it’s enough to put the 36-year-old in the number one position.
Club goals and titles are the first two, international goals and titles come next, then Ballon d’Or titles, individual honours and milestones and finally ‘Z-factor’ seasons.
The last one covers seasons on the pitch where the plays impact ‘significantly out-performed others from the previous five seasons.’
The former Real Madrid has scored 674 club goals in 897 games, in all competitions, but Messi is ahead of him with less games, having scored 683 times in 811 matches.
When it comes to club trophies, it’s the PSG player who once again leads the way, with 35-30, although Ronaldo has an extra Champions League win and league trophies in three countries.
Internationally the Portugal forward is head and shoulders above his rival having become the leading men’s international scorer ever last week, with his brace against Ireland taking him to 111 goals for his country, to Messi’s 76.
Both have won their continents main competition, with Ronaldo winning Euro 2016 and Argentina winning the Copa America earlier this summer to help Messi break his duck.
The 34-year-olds six Ballon d’Or wins is better than his rivals five and he’s the bookies favourite to add another trophy to his cabinet this year.
Both men obviously have a litany of personal achievements and records and I guess it’s up to each person to decide which are the most impressive.
There must be a few Z-factor seasons for each player too, as both have made a huge difference to their teams’ successes, which is why they’ve won the Ballon d’Ors they have.
Either way, it’s sae to say this new algorithm, whilst interesting, won’t actually help to decide who is the best…

وقام الدكتور توم كروفورد، بطلب من أحد المواقع الرياضية الشهيرة، بإستخدام علم الرياضيات والأرقام الحسابية للمساعدة في الإجابة على السؤال الأزلي، بحسب موقع الجزيرة نت.
ومن أجل التأهل إلى القائمة المختصرة لمؤشر “أفضل لاعب في التاريخ”، يجب أن يكون اللاعبون قد فازوا مرتين بجائزة الكرة الذهبية على الأقل، والحصول على نقاط عالية في 7 فئات مختلفة للدخول إلى قائمة الـ10 الأوائل:
الفئة الأولى: الألقاب.
الفئة الثانية: الألقاب الدولية.
الفئة الثالثة: الأهداف التي سجلها اللاعب لفريقه أو فرقه.
الفئة الرابعة: الأهداف الدولية.
الفئة الخامسة: الكرات الذهبية.
الفئة السادسة: الأرقام القياسية.
الفئة السابعة: مساهمات اللاعب وقيادته للمجد.

ويقول الدكتور كروفورد “بصفتي مشجعا كبيرا لكرة القدم، ناقشت لمدة طويلة مع أصدقائي من هو أعظم لاعب في كل العصور.. أحببت تقديم الرياضيات للجماهير على مدى السنوات القليلة الماضية، لذا فإن القدرة على عرض كيفية استخدامها في عالم كرة القدم كان أمراً ممتعاً للغاية”، مؤكداً في الوقت ذاته أنه رغم استخدام لغة الأرقام والعمليات الحسابية فإن النقاش سيستمر!.
وفي مطلع سبتمبر الجاري حقق كريستيانو رونالدو المنتقل حديثاً من يوفنتوس الإيطالي إلى فريقه السابق مانشستر يونايتد، رقماً قياسياً جديداً بعد أن سجل هدفه الدولي رقم 111 متجاوزاً اللاعب الإيراني علي دائي صاحب الـ109 أهداف.
وحقق رونالدو صاحب الـ36 عاماً الكثير من الأرقام القياسية، فهو أفضل هداف في تاريخ دوري أبطال أوروبا مع 134 هدفاً، وأفضل هداف في تاريخ نادي ريال مدريد الإسباني (450 هدفاً) وأفضل هداف في تاريخ نهائيات كأس أوروبا مع 14 هدفاً بينها 5 أهداف في النسخة الأخيرة التي أقيمت خلال شهري يونيو ويوليو الماضيين، كما أنه أفضل هداف لمنتخب أوروبي عندما تخطى المجري فيرينك بوشكاش (84 هدفاً) خلال مونديال روسيا 2018.
