NHRC Inspects Situation in Temporary Centers in Qatar to Receive Evacuees from Afghanistan

Doha: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) inspected the situation of civilians who were evacuated from Afghanistan to the State of Qatar as a temporary transit area, and praised the country’s humanitarian efforts to provide relief to the Afghan people.
In this context, HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater received the NHRC Monitoring and Visits Team at Umm Al Saneem Center which was designated for evacuation operations, headed by HE Deputy Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee Dr. Mohammed bin Saif Al Kuwari. The team listened to a detailed explanation by HE the Assistant Foreign Minister on the evacuation operations, reception and various aids, such as the field hospital and the provision of a number of volunteers to serve the evacuated civilians.
HE the NHRC Deputy Chairman said that the team met with HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater who provided the information through which the Committee was reassured on the situation of evacuees in the country.
He underlined that all aids for a decent life in terms of shelter, food and treatment were provided, in addition to providing recreational and educational activities for children, noting that more than 119 families were sheltered and provided with all life aids.
He added that the Qatari government provides more than 60,000 meals per day, noting that field clinics have been provided in the temporary accommodation centers, equipped with integrated medical staff. All medical examinations related to the COVID-19 pandemic have been conducted for people in those centers.
He said that the Monitoring and Visits Committee, through the field visit and the families’ testimonies, confirms that the Qatari government has met all the criteria required to receive the evacuees from Afghanistan and secure their departure to their countries or other countries of asylum.
HE the NHRC Deputy Chairman underlined that Qatar’s positions towards the Afghan people supports its position on protecting civilians in situations of military conflict and crises.
He indicated that the National Human Rights Committee is in the process of preparing a report on the subject and sending it to international and humanitarian organizations. The report includes details of all the steps and efforts made by the Government of the State of Qatar in this regard.
الدوحة: وقفت اللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان، على أوضاع المدنيين الذين تم إجلاؤهم من أفغانستان إلى دولة قطر بوصفها منطقة عبور مؤقتة، وأشادت بجهود الدولة الإنسانية لإغاثة الشعب الأفغاني.
وفي هذا الإطار، استقبلت سعادة السيدة لولوة بنت راشد الخاطر مساعد وزير الخارجية، فريق اللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان للرصد والزيارات بمركز أم السنيم المخصص لاستقبال عمليات الإجلاء، برئاسة سعادة الدكتور محمد بن سيف الكواري نائب رئيس اللجنة، حيث استمع الفريق لشرح مفصل من سعادتها حول كيفية عمليات الإجلاء والاستقبال والمساعدات المتنوعة، مثل المستشفى الميداني وتوفير عدد من المتطوعين لخدمة المدنيين الذين تم إجلاؤهم.
وقال الدكتور محمد سيف الكواري نائب رئيس اللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان رئيس لجنة الرصد والزيارات: لقد التقينا سعادة السيدة لولوة بنت راشد الخاطر ووافتنا بمعلومات اطمأنت من خلالها اللجنة على أوضاع الأفغان المتواجدين في الدولة.
وأشار إلى أنه تم توفير كافة معينات الحياة الكريمة من حيث المأوى والغذاء والعلاج، بالإضافة إلى توفير الفعاليات الترفيهية والتعليمية للأطفال، منوها إلى إيواء أكثر من 119 عائلة وتقديم كافة معينات الحياة لهم.
وأضاف أنه في جانب الغذاء تقدم الحكومة القطرية أكثر من 60 ألف وجبة في اليوم الواحد، مشيرا إلى أن هنالك عيادات ميدانية تم توفيرها في مراكز الإيواء المؤقتة وهي عيادات مزودة بطواقم طبية متكاملة، لافتا إلى أنه تم إجراء كافة الفحوصات الطبية المتعلقة بوباء /كوفيد – 19/ للأشخاص المتواجدين في تلك المراكز.
وقال إن لجنة الرصد والزيارات من خلال الزيارة الميدانية وشهادات العوائل، تؤكد أن الحكومة القطرية استوفت كافة المعايير المطلوبة لاستقبال الذين تم إجلاؤهم من أفغانستان وتأمين مغادرتهم إلى بلدانهم أو بلاد اللجوء الأخرى.
وأوضح نائب رئيس اللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان، أن الموقف الذي سجلته دولة قطر تجاه الشعب الأفغاني يدعم موقفها في حماية المدنيين في حالات النزاع العسكرية والأزمات.
وأشار إلى أن اللجنة الوطنية لحقوق الإنسان بصدد إعداد تقرير حول الموضوع وإرساله للمنظمات الدولية والإنسانية، بحيث يتضمن تفصيلا لكل خطوات وجهود حكومة دولة قطر في هذا الصدد.
