QRCS Launches Emergency Health, Nutritional Response in Yemen

Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched an emergency health and nutritional response in the places of internally displaced people (IDPs) in the Taiz and Sa’ada Governorates of Yemen.
At the premises of QRCS’s mission in Taiz, an introductory workshop was held for representatives of the health sector, planning department, districts health directors, and managers of the target health centers.
The session discussed the project’s activities and mechanism, to give an overview of the interventions and procedures to be carried out by QRCS for the IDP and most vulnerable communities.
Nabil Jamel, General Manager of the Planning and International Cooperation Bureau in Taiz, said, “We discussed the details of the project of emergency health and nutritional response in the places of IDPs in the districts of Al-Ma’afir, Al Shamayatayn, and Al Mudhaffar. We had already signed the project’s agreement with QRCS, with $1 million funding from the Yemen Health Fund (YHF)”.
According to him, the project involves multiple health interventions, including supplies, training, awareness, health equipment, and staff remunerations. He expected the project to effectively address the very needs of Taiz, especially in relation to health.
Jamil Al Jamai, Manager of the Saina Health Center in Al Mudhaffar, said, “I would like to thank QRCS for their previous contributions, which upgraded the center to be compared to a district hospital in terms of advanced equipment. Earlier, we covered three other districts, serving up to 13,000 cases per month”.
“Today, we are optimistic to have QRCS here again,” he added. “QRCS is more than welcome. They always such a great helper. We are proud of partnering with them, and we will work together to provide health services”.
Under the project, QRCS will ensure that the IDPs and host community most in need have access to comprehensive health services, including vaccination, prevention of communicable diseases, the essential sexual and reproductive health (SRH) package, and malnutrition treatment for mothers and children.
Also, QRCS will secure monthly supplies, such as medications, water, fuel for electric generators, solar power system, staff remunerations and training, community awareness raising, referral of critical cases to hospitals, furnishing, and maintenance of health facilities.
Funded by $1,698,573 from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) under YHF, the project is estimated to reach out to 230,000 persons. In Taiz, the services will be provided through two hospitals, three health centers, and two mobile clinics. In Sa’ada, three health centers and three mobile clinics were contracted.

وقال الهلال الأحمر القطري، في بيان، إن بعثته في اليمن نظمت ورشة عمل تعريفية بالمشروع في مدينة /تعز/، بحضور الشركاء الممثلين لقطاع الصحة ومديري المراكز الصحية المستفيدة من المشروع.
وتناولت الورشة البنود والأنشطة المتعلقة بالمشروع والآلية المتبعة في التنفيذ، بهدف توضيح الرؤية بشأن جميع التدخلات والإجراءات التي يقدمها الهلال الأحمر القطري لصالح النازحين والمجتمعات المضيفة الأشد فقراً، في ظل الأوضاع الإنسانية التي تشهدها محافظة /تعز/ وتفاقم معاناة السكان جراء انتشار جائحة /كوفيد-19/.
وقال السيد نبيل جامل مدير عام مكتب التخطيط والتعاون الدولي بمحافظة /تعز/، إن الورشة استعرضت تفاصيل مشروع الاستجابة الصحية والتغذوية الطارئة بمواقع تجمع النازحين في مديريات /المعافر/ و/الشمايتين/ و/المظفر/، والذي سبق التوقيع لتنفيذه مع الهلال الأحمر القطري وبتمويل يتجاوز مليون دولار من صندوق اليمن الإنساني.
من جانبه، أثنى السيد جميل الجماعي مدير مركز /صينة/ الصحي بمديرية /المظفر/ على الدور الذي يقوم به الهلال الأحمر القطري، وقال: “شكراً للهلال الأحمر القطري على الدعم المقدم في المرحلة السابقة، والذي أنعش المركز حتى أصبح يضاهي مستشفى مديرية من حيث التجهيزات المتطورة. لقد بلغ عدد المستفيدين في المرحلة الماضية من الخدمات المقدمة شهرياً 13,000 حالة، ثم انكمشت الخدمات بعد مغادرة الهلال الأحمر القطري خلال عامي 2019 و2020”.
وأضاف الجماعي: “نحن اليوم متفائلون بعودة الهلال الأحمر القطري للمرة الثانية إلى المركز، فالهلال الأحمر القطري خير زائر، وهو كالمطر النافع أينما وقع نفع. نحن فخورون بالشراكة معه، وسنعمل معاً على تقديم الخدمات الصحية”.
جدير بالذكر أن الهلال الأحمر القطري سيقوم بتعزيز الوصول إلى الخدمات الصحية الشاملة للأشخاص الأشد احتياجاً من النازحين والمجتمع المضيف، بما في ذلك خدمات التلقيح، والوقاية من الأمراض المعدية، ومجموعة الخدمات الأولية للصحة الإنجابية، وعلاج سوء التغذية لدى الأطفال والأمهات.
ويأتي ذلك المشروع ضمن مشاريع مكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشئون الإنسانية /أوتشا/، وبتمويل من صندوق اليمن الإنساني قدره 1,698,573 دولار أمريكي، ومن المقدر أن يبلغ عدد المستفيدين 230,000 شخص.
وسيعمل الهلال الأحمر القطري على دعم خدمات الصحة والتغذية في مديريات المعافر والشمايتين والمظفر بمحافظة تعز، من خلال مستشفيين هما /النشمة/ و/المظفر/، و3 مراكز صحية هي /رفيدة/ و/الحيب/ و/صينة/، وفريقين طبيين متنقلين. وبالتوازي مع ذلك، سيدعم مديرية الصفراء في محافظة صعدة من خلال 3 مراكز صحية هي آل عمار ومثاب وكانا، و3 فرق طبية متنقلة.
