HBKU TIIs Immersive Language Courses Open to All from September

Adults, youth, and children can register to learn one of the global languages offered

Doha, August 31, 2021 – The Language Center at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has launched its fall 2021 language courses for the public. Adults, young people, and children can choose from 12 global languages with courses offered between September 11 and December 15. Classes will be delivered both online and face-to-face at flexible timings.

Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German (in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region), Portuguese, and Spanish courses are open to all ages. Additionally, adults can choose from Italian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, English, and Korean. Courses commence at the beginner stage and progress to more advanced levels. For students with previous learning, Language Center staff can assist in determining an appropriate starting point.

The Language Center is based at the Translation and Interpreting Institute (TII), part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at HBKU. Qualified language professionals follow the most up-to-date methodologies, using a variety of formats and technology-enhanced learning styles that focus on developing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The program is communication-oriented and students are taught entirely in the foreign language, ensuring that all courses are an immersive, enriching cultural experience.

The courses offered by the Center further its mission to provide world-class foreign language education that enables learners to acquire a new tongue in its cultural context.

Dr. Nima Nazari, director of the Language Center at TII, HBKU, said: “Whatever your reason for learning a new language, for family, travel, or work purposes, chatting online, or simply to challenge yourself, our language courses will give you the skills to begin communicating. Our courses have helped learners become proficient in the language while getting to appreciate the culture and traditions attached to it. We are pleased to offer on-campus classes and continue our online delivery during the fall semester, and we encourage everyone to embark on a fulfilling language journey.”

الكبار والشباب والأطفال يمكنهم التسجيل لتعلم إحدى اللغات العالمية التي يقدمها المركز

الدوحة، 31 أغسطس 2021- أطلق مركز اللغات بجامعة حمد بن خليفة دوراته في اللغات لخريف 2021 للجمهور. ويمكن للكبار والشباب والأطفال الاختيار من بين 12 لغة عالمية من خلال الدورات التي يقدمها المركز في الفترة ما بين 11 سبتمبر و15 ديسمبر، حيث ستُقدَّم الفصول الدراسية عبر الإنترنت وجهًا لوجه في أوقات مرنة.

ويقدم المركز دورات في اللغة العربية، والصينية الماندرين، والفرنسية، والألمانية، بالشراكة مع معهد جوته لمنطقة الخليج، والبرتغالية، والإسبانية لجميع الأعمار. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، يمكن للكبار الاختيار من بين دورات اللغات في اللغة الإيطالية والروسية والتركية واليابانية والإنجليزية العامة والكورية. وتبدأ الدورات بمرحلة المبتدئين وتتقدم إلى مستويات أكثر تقدمًا. وبالنسبة للطلاب الذين يتمتعون بمعرفة سابقة باللغات، يمكن لموظفي مركز اللغات المساعدة في تحديد نقطة البداية المناسبة.

ويتواجد مركز اللغات في معهد دراسات الترجمة، التابع لكلية العلوم الإنسانية والاجتماعية بجامعة حمد بن خليفة. ويتبع المتخصصون المؤهلون في تدريس اللغات أحدث المناهج، باستخدام مجموعة متنوعة من التنسيقات وأنماط التعلم المعززة بالتكنولوجيا والتي تركز على تطوير مهارات التحدث والاستماع والقراءة والكتابة. والبرنامج موجه نحو تطوير مهارات الاتصال حيث يدرس الطلاب باللغة الأجنبية تمامًا، وهو ما يضمن أن توفر جميع الدورات تجربة ثقافية شيقة وثرية.

وتعزز الدورات التي يقدمها المركز رسالته المتمثلة في توفير تعليم رفيع المستوى للغات الأجنبية يمكّن المتعلمين من اكتساب لغة جديدة في سياقها الثقافي.

وقال الدكتور أحمد نزاري، مدير مركز اللغات التابع لمعهد دراسات الترجمة في جامعة حمد بن خليفة: “أيًا كان السبب وراء تعلم لغة جديدة سواء لأغراض عائلية أو للسفر أو العمل أو الدردشة عبر الإنترنت أو لمجرد تحدي نفسك، ستزود دورات اللغات التي نقدمها المشاركين فيها بالمهارات اللازمة لبدء عملية التواصل. وقد ساعدت دوراتنا المتعلمين على إتقان اللغات مع التعرف على الثقافات والتقاليد المرتبطة بها. ويسعدنا تقديم الدروس داخل الحرم الجامعي والاستمرار في تقديمنا لهذه البرامج عبر الإنترنت خلال فصل الخريف، ونشجع الجميع على الانطلاق في رحلة لغوية شيقة ووافية.”
