More patrols to be deployed in bid to tackle traffic jams

With the beginning of new academic year and in a bid to address issue of possible traffic jams, the General Directorate of Traffic is set to deploy more traffic patrols.
More traffic vehicles will be deployed around the important intersections and roundabouts that witness traffic congestion during morning rush hours, said Colonel Mohamed Radi Al Hajri, director of the Awareness and Information Department at the General Directorate of Traffic.
He also said that the department has prepared a plan to intensify traffic patrols as well as holding many awareness activities with the aim of providing traffic safety guidelines for all age groups. Colonel Al Hajri, pointed out that the traffic patrols will be present at important intersections and roundabouts that witness traffic jam during the rush hours. “Traffic motorcycles will be participating in this plan.”
“Traffic patrols are also intensifying their presence around schools, especially those located in internal residential areas, with the aim of facilitating traffic, helping parents and to ensure safe movement of students,” Al Hajri said while speaking to Qatar TV recently.
He pointed out that the awareness drive will continue during the academic year with a focus on preparatory and secondary schools through awareness lectures given by officers and experts.
“We held training courses for security guards in schools to regulate traffic in case of traffic jams at the time of entering and leaving schools,” he noted.
Al Hajri indicated that these programmes always take into account the precautionary measures approved by the concerned authorities. “Parents, teachers, school bus drivers and supervisors, and all those involved in the educational process are participating in these training programmes,” he said.

قال العقيد محمد راضي الهاجري، مدير إدارة التوعية والإعلام بالإدارة العامة للمرور، إنه سيتم نشر المزيد من المركبات المرورية حول التقاطعات والدوارات الهامة التي تشهد ازدحاما مروريا خلال ساعات الذروة الصباحية.
كما أكد أن الإدارة أعدت خطة لتكثيف الدوريات المرورية بالإضافة إلى القيام بالعديد من الأنشطة التوعوية بهدف توفير إرشادات السلامة المرورية لجميع الفئات العمرية. وأشار العقيد الهاجري، إلى أن الدوريات المرورية ستكون موجودة عند التقاطعات والدوارات الهامة التي تشهد اختناقات مرورية خلال ساعات الذروة. “ستشارك الدراجات النارية المرورية في هذه الخطة”.
وقال الهاجري في حديث لتلفزيون قطر مؤخرا إن “دوريات المرور تكثف أيضا وجودها حول المدارس، لا سيما تلك الموجودة في المناطق السكنية الداخلية، بهدف تسهيل حركة المرور ومساعدة أولياء الأمور وضمان حرية حركة الطلاب”.
وأشار إلى أن حملة التوعية ستستمر خلال العام الدراسي مع التركيز على المدارس الإعدادية والثانوية من خلال محاضرات التوعية التي يلقيها الضباط والخبراء.
“عقدنا دورات تدريبية لحراس الأمن في المدارس لتنظيم حركة المرور في حالة الاختناقات المرورية وقت دخول المدارس ومغادرتها”.
وأشار الهاجري إلى أن هذه البرامج تأخذ في الاعتبار دائما التدابير الاحترازية التي أقرتها الجهات المعنية. وقال “يشارك أولياء الأمور والمعلمون وسائقو الحافلات المدرسية والمشرفون وجميع المشاركين في العملية التعليمية في هذه البرامج التدريبية”.
