Emperor of Japan Opens Tokyo Paralympics 2020

Tokyo: Japanese Emperor Naruhito officially announced the opening of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, during a ceremony held at the National Stadium in the Japanese capital.

The tournament will be held from August 24 to September 5, with the participation of about 4,400 athletes representing 160 countries.

Only a few officials and the media attended the opening ceremony, which carried the slogan “We have wings,” and then the delegations’ processions.

Similar to the Summer Olympics that concluded on August 8, the event will be subject to strict rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19, with nearly all spectators banned and athletes subject to severe restrictions.

وتقام منافسات البطولة خلال الفترة من 24 أغسطس الجاري وحتى 5 سبتمبر المقبل، بمشاركة نحو 4400 رياضي يمثلون 160 دولة.

ولم يحضر حفل الافتتاح الذي حمل شعار /لدينا أجنحة/ سوى عدد قليل من المسؤولين ووسائل الإعلام ثم مواكب الوفود.

وعلى غرار الألعاب الأولمبية الصيفية التي اختتمت في 8 أغسطس، سيخضع الحدث لقواعد صارمة من أجل عدم تفشي كورونا/كوفيد – 19/، حيث سيتم حظر كل الجماهير تقريباً ويخضع الرياضيون لقيود قاسية.
