Qatar Post celebrates World Post Day

Qatar Post yesterday shared its multifaceted programme aimed at familiarising the general public with the various functions of the postal sector, its products and services, as well as at raising awareness about the history and evolution of the company.

This came on the occasion of World Post Day, celebrated annually on October 9.

Qatar Post chairman and managing director Faleh al-Naemi said: “Since its inception, Qatar Post has made a continuous effort to evolve and modernise its products, services and offerings. Driven by an ambitious vision to expand our reach globally, our efforts have been geared toward cementing Qatar Post’s position in the region as a hub for postal and logistical services.

“It is this ambition that guided our product and service innovation throughout our history; we launched state-of-the-art e-services and e-commerce platforms at scale to keep pace with the evolving needs of our customers and online shoppers in Qatar and expanded and modernised our national network at scale.

“Today, Qatar Post leads by example as an organisation that is deeply rooted in the local community and fuelled by a global ambition to innovate and bring the best of the world to Qatar through its products and services.”

World Post Day marks the anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), a United Nations specialised agency.

The Union was founded in 1874 in Bern, Switzerland, and effectively declared World Post Day as an annual celebration during the World Conference in Tokyo in 1969.

The UPU aims to raise global awareness on the significant role postal services play in the day-to-day lives of individuals, companies and institutions across all sectors.

Additionally, it aims to shed the light on the contributions of postal services in the realm of social and economic development.

On World Post Day, countries around the world celebrate the occasion with the launch of new products and services, employee reward programmes, and exhibitions and auctions for limited-edition stamp collections.

In addition to conducting seminars, workshops, conferences, cultural, sporting and entertainment events, many companies worldwide select high-ranked cadres to speak on their organisation’s history, evolution and achievements.

بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للبريد، الذي يوافق 9 أكتوبر من كل عام، قام «بريد قطر» بدعوة المجتمع المحلّي للمشاركة في الفعاليات والأنشطة في مقره الرئيسي.

انطلقت الفعاليات بتنظيم حفل خاص لتكريم الفائزين الثلاثة في المسابقة الدولية الثامنة والأربعين للكتابة الإبداعية، والتي شارك فيها حوالي 39 طفلاً تبلغ أعمارهم 15 عاماً.

وقد استلم الفائزون الميداليات، والشهادات التقديرية، والهدايا القيمة، بحضور القنوات التلفزيونية القطرية الرائدة التي غطت الفعالية. واختتمت الاحتفالية بمرافقة المشاركين في جولة توعوية وتثقيفية، شملت مرافق العمليات، والأنشطة اللوجستية في «بريد قطر»، وذلك بهدف تعريف الطلاب والطالبات بالعمليات البريدية المختلفة التي ينفذها البريد، والمنتجات والخدمات المبتكرة التي يقدمها للأفراد والشركات، فضلاً عن إعطاء الضيوف نبذة موجزة حول تاريخ وتطور الشركة في السوق القطري.

وقال السيد فالح النعيمي، رئيس مجلس الإدارة، والعضو المنتدب في «بريد قطر»: «يمثل اليوم العالمي للبريد مناسبة خاصة للاحتفال بإنجازات وتطور قطاع البريد ومؤسساته التي تضع الناس والمجتمع والأعمال في قمة أولوياته، بما يتجاوز مجرد تقديم الخدمات والمنتجات البريدية المبتكرة».
