Kabul: The Kabul airport authority announced Monday that all commercial flights have been suspended at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
The airport authority urged the public in a statement reported by ‘TOLOnews’ to not crowd the airport.
Kabul airport was overwhelmed on Sunday night with over 2,000 people hoping to board commercial flights leaving the country.
Meanwhile, ‘TOLOnews’ reported that the evacuation efforts facilitated by US forces are underway.
UN Secretary-General Antnio Guterres has urged Taliban and all other Afghan parties “to exercise utmost restraint.” Guterres is calling on all parties “to ensure that humanitarian actors have unimpeded access to deliver timely and life-saving services and assistance.”
On Monday, the Secretary-General will address the UN Security Council’s open meeting on Afghanistan.
Afghan Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation Dr. Abdullah Abdullah announced that the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had left the country, following Taliban’s entry into Kabul earlier on Sunday.

كابول: أعلنت هيئة مطار كابول اليوم، أن جميع الرحلات التجارية علقت في مطار حامد كرزاي الدولي في كابول.
وحثت هيئة المطار في بيان أوردته شبكة /تولو نيوز/ الأفغانية، الجمهور على عدم الازدحام بالمطار.
وكان مطار كابول مكتظا الليلة الماضية، حيث كان أكثر من 2000 شخص يأملون في ركوب الرحلات الجوية التجارية التي تغادر البلاد.
وذكرت شبكة /تولو نيوز/ أنه في غضون ذلك، تتواصل جهود الإجلاء بمساعدة القوات الأمريكية .
وكان السيد أنطونيو غوتيريش الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة قد دعا /طالبان/ وجميع الأطراف الأفغانية الأخرى إلى ممارسة “أقصى درجات ضبط النفس”.. كما دعا جميع الأطراف إلى ضمان “وصول العاملين في المجال الإنساني بلا عوائق، من أجل تقديم المساعدة في الوقت المناسب، والتي تعتبر ضرورية لإنقاذ الأرواح”.
ومن المقرر أن يعقد مجلس الأمن الدولي اجتماعا /اليوم/، لمناقشة الوضع في أفغانستان، وسيقدم غوتيريش تقريرا خلال الاجتماع.
وأعلن الدكتور عبدالله عبدالله رئيس المجلس الأعلى للمصالحة الوطنية بأفغانستان، أن الرئيس الأفغاني أشرف غني قد غادر البلاد، وذلك في أعقاب دخول /طالبان/ إلى العاصمة كابول في وقت سابق.
