Schools in Qatar function smoothly

DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has confirmed that the educational process went normally (schools functioned normally) yesterday without being affected by the weather condition, and that students conducted their mid-term exams without delay.

The Ministry noted that it is following the weather conditions and the state of the school buildings, in constant coordination between its leaders and the school administrations and the authorities concerned in the country, such as Qatar Meteorology Department, Ashghal and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

Director of School Affairs Department Khalifa Saad Al Derham stressed that the Ministry gave top priority to security and safety of students. He pointed out that coordination is ongoing around the clock between departments managers and Undersecretary of the Ministry to follow the weather conditions, and it was agreed that the weather yesterday does not require disruption of study, especially since students are taking mid-term exams.

Al Derham noted that some parents have called the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, demanding not to disrupt the conduct of tests, stressing that the ministry puts the students’ security and safety above all considerations, and takes decisions based on accurate data and follow-up.

Student Assessment Director at the Ministry Fahad Al Naama said that there were no complaints about the delay of any student on the mid-term tests that started today and that the process went well in all schools.
For his part, the Director of the Public Services Department Khalid Al Hajri said that the Ministry has formed a crisis and disaster management committee led by the Undersecretary, which continuously monitors the situation in schools and assesses the situation based on reports of the weather and the impact of school buildings on rain.

Director of Public Relations and Communication at the Ministry Hassan Abdullah Al Mohammadi urged people to avoid spreading rumors and the transfer of incorrect news in the rainy season and bad weather, noting that the ministry is monitoring all the observations and inquiries through social networking sites, as well as on the hotline 155 “Ya Aunak”.

أكدت وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي أن العملية التعليمية سارت اليوم بصورة طبيعية دون أن تؤثر عليها حالة الطقس، حيث انتظم الطلاب في جميع المدارس الحكومية، وأدوا اختبارات منتصف الفصل الدراسي الأول، ولم يتم رصد أي حالات تأخير عنها.

ونوهت الوزارة بأن أجهزتها تتابع حالة الطقس في البلاد، وحالة المباني المدرسية، بالتنسيق المستمر بين قياداتها وإدارات المدارس والجهات المعنية بالدولة مثل الأرصاد الجوية وهيئة الأشغال العامة والمؤسسة القطرية العامة للكهرباء والماء “كهرماء”.

وأكد السيد خليفة الدرهم مدير إدارة شؤون المدارس أن الوزارة تضع نصب عينيها أمن وسلامة الطلاب في المقام الأول. وأشار إلى أن التنسيق مستمر على مدار الساعة بين مديري الإدارات وسعادة وكيل الوزارة لمتابعة أحوال الطقس، وتم الاتفاق على أن حالة الطقس اليوم، لا تستدعي تعطيل الدراسة، لا سيما أن الطلاب يخوضون اختبارات منتصف الفصل الدراسي، من الصف الأول حتى الحادي عشر.

ونوه الدرهم بأن بعض أولياء الأمور تواصلوا مع وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي مطالبين بعدم تعطيل سير الاختبارات التي استعد لها الطلاب خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع، مؤكداً أن الوزارة تضع مصلحة الطالب وأمنه وسلامته فوق كل اعتبار، وتتخذ قراراتها بناء على معطيات دقيقة ومتابعة حثيثة.

من ناحيته، أوضح السيد فهد النعمة، مدير إدارة تقييم الطلبة بالوزارة أنه لم ترد أية شكاوى بسبب تأخر أي طالب عن اختبارات منتصف الفصل الدراسي الأول التي بدأت اليوم ، وسارت في جميع المدارس بصورة طيبة .

وأكد السيد خالد الهاجري مدير إدارة الخدمات العامة أن الوزارة شكلت لجنة لإدارة الأزمات والكوارث برئاسة سعادة الوكيل، والتي تتابع بشكل مستمر الأوضاع في المدارس، وتجري تقييماً للموقف بناء على التقارير التي تردها عن حالة الطقس ومدى تأثر المباني المدرسية بالأمطار.

من جهته، أهاب السيد حسن عبد الله المحمدي مدير إدارة العلاقات العامة والاتصال بالوزارة عدم تداول الشائعات ونقل الأخبار غير الصحيحة في موسم الأمطار وسوء الأحوال الجوية، مشيراً الى أن الوزارة تقوم برصد جميع الملاحظات والاستفسارات على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، إلى جانب خدمة “يا عونك ” على الرقم 155، والبريد الالكتروني info@edu.gov.qa ، ورحب بتواصل الجمهور وإبلاغ الوزارة عبر قنواتها الرسمية بأية أمور تتعلق بأوضاع المدارس خلال موسم الأمطار
