Alternative corniche roads accommodate traffic

Doha: The temporary traffic closure began yesterday in both directions on Corniche Street, which lasts until 5am on Tuesday, August 10th, with the aim of completing some work on Corniche Street.

Traffic was smooth through alternative roads set by the Ministry of Interior for motorists. The closure date has been set to coincide with summer holidays and school holidays, the closure includes Corniche Street and parts of some streets surrounding Al-Bidda Park, Diwan Street, Al-Rumailah and Banks Street, with pedestrians allowed to use closed roads, as well as the possibility of using public transport as an alternative to private vehicles, with 7 Doha Metro stations present along Corniche Street, which are Exhibition Centre metro station, the West Bay, corniche, Al-Bidda, Souq Waqif, Msheireb and Qatar National Museum, as well as the possibility of using 6 public transport bus stops, including the station adjacent to Al-Dafna Park, City Centre, Exhibition Centre metro, Hotel Park, Fishing Port, and Souq Waqif metro, buses operate for 9 hours (2pm to 11:59pm) on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 6am to 11pm, with the time period being 10 to 15 minutes between each bus and will match Doha Metro’s working hours.

الدوحة: بدأ أمس الإغلاق المروري المؤقت في كِلا الاتجاهين على شارع الكورنيش، الذي يستمرّ حتى الساعة الخامسة فجر يوم الثلاثاء العاشر من أغسطس الجاري، بهدف استكمال تنفيذ بعض الأعمال على شارع الكورنيش.

وشهدت الحركة المروريّة انسيابية عبر الطرق البديلة التي حددتها وزارة الداخلية لقائدي المركبات. وتمّ تحديد موعد الإغلاق تزامنًا مع الإجازات الصيفية والعطلة المدرسيّة، حيث يشمل شارع الكورنيش وأجزاء من بعض الشوارع المُحيطة بحديقة البدع وشارع الديوان والرميلة وشارع حمد الكبير (البنوك)، على أن يتم السماح للمشاة باستخدام الطرق المُغلقة، بالإضافة إلى إمكانية استخدام وسائل النقل العامّة كبديل عن المركبات الخاصّة، حيث تتوفر 7 محطات لمترو الدوحة على امتداد شارع الكورنيش، وهي مركز المعارض، والخليج الغربي، والكورنيش، والبدع، وسوق واقف، ومشيرب، ومتحف قطر الوطني، بالإضافة إلى إمكانية استخدام 6 محطات لحافلات النقل العام، التي تتضمن المحطة المجاورة لحديقة الدفنة، وسيتي سنتر، ومترو مركز المعارض، وحديقة الفندق، وميناء الصيد، ومترو سوق واقف وتعمل الحافلات على مدار 9 ساعات (من 2 ظهرًا إلى 11:59 ليلًا) يوم الجمعة، وأيام السبت والأحد من الساعة 6 صباحًا إلى الساعة 11 ليلًا، بحيث تكون الفترة الزمنيّة من 10 إلى 15 دقيقة ما بين كل حافلة وستتوافق بذلك مع ساعات عمل مترو الدوحة.
