Ashghal Announces Temporary Closure of Corniche Street

Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced a temporary traffic closure on both directions of Corniche Street beginning from 12 am on Friday, August 6 until 5 am on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. This traffic diversion plan aims to facilitate completion of some construction works of Corniche Street development project.

This diversion planned during the summer vacation and school holidays includes closure of Corniche Street and parts of some surrounding streets around Al Bidda Park, Al Diwan Street, Al Rumaila street, Grand Hamad Street (Banks’ Street) and Mohammed bin Thani street. However, pedestrians shall be allowed to use the closed roads, in addition to use of public transportation means as an alternative to private vehicles.

The development works include completion of implementing four pedestrian tunnels, as these tunnels aim to enhance pedestrian traffic and connect the paths to the neighborhoods. The construction works also include three plazas on the Corniche including Al Dafna Plaza, Corniche Plaza, and Al Bidda Plaza, in addition to studying some infrastructure development works in public utility service.

There are seven stations of Doha Metro along Corniche Street including QNCC, West Bay, Corniche, Al Bidda, Souq Waqif, Msheireb, and Qatar National Museum. Additionally, there are six public transport bus stations at various locations including station beside Dafna Park, City Center, QNCC Metro Station, Hotel Park, Doha Fishing Port, and Souq Waqif Metro.

الدوحة: أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” عن إغلاق مروري مؤقت في كلا الاتجاهين على شارع الكورنيش، ابتداء من الساعة 12 صباح يوم الجمعة 6 أغسطس إلى الساعة 5 فجر يوم الثلاثاء 10 أغسطس بهدف استكمال تنفيذ بعض الأعمال على الشارع، وذلك بالتنسيق مع الإدارة العامة للمرور بوزارة الداخلية.

ويشمل الإغلاق شارع الكورنيش وأجزاء من بعض الشوارع المحيطة بحديقة البدع وشارع الديوان والرميلة وحمد الكبير (البنوك) ومحمد بن ثاني، على أن يتم السماح للمشاة باستخدام الطرق المغلقة، بالإضافة إلى إمكانية استخدام وسائل النقل العامة كبديل عن المركبات الخاصة.

وتتضمن الأعمال استكمال تنفيذ أربعة أنفاق للمشاة، لتعزز حركة المشاة وربط المسارات بالأماكن المجاورة، إلى جانب استكمال أعمال الإنشاء لثلاث ساحات على الكورنيش وهي الدفنة والكورنيش والبدع، بالإضافة إلى بعض أعمال تطوير البنية التحتية في المرافق والخدمات العامة.

وتتوفر 7 محطات لمترو الدوحة على امتداد شارع الكورنيش، وهي مركز المعارض، والخليج الغربي، والكورنيش، والبدع، وسوق واقف، ومشيرب، ومتحف قطر الوطني، بالإضافة إلى إمكانية استخدام 6 محطات لحافلات النقل العام، والتي تتضمن المحطة المجاورة لحديقة الدفنة، وسيتي سنتر، ومترو مركز المعارض، وحديقة الفندق، وميناء الصيد، ومترو سوق واقف.
