Eta Aquarid meteor shower to illuminate Qatar sky tomorrow

The residents of northern hemisphere, including the resident of Qatar, will have a good chance to seeing and observing Eta Aquarid meteor shower, which will illuminate northern hemisphere sky from the evening of tomorrow till the dawn of Wednesday, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has announced. 

According to astronomer experts on meteors shower observations, Eta Aquarid meteor shower is one of an important meteors showers seen from earth, where the average rate of Eta Aquarid showers flow will be 50 Eta Aquarid meteors per hour. 

Moreover, it is usually active every year from April 19 till May 28, while its peak occurs from evening of May 5, till dawn of May 6, astronomer expert at (QCH) Dr. Beshir Marzouk said.

Generally, observing meteor shower does not need astronomical instrumentation therefore Qatar residents and the resident of countries in northern hemisphere can see Eta Aquarid meteor showers with naked eye from places without light and environment pollution (pure sky), and darker places, he said, adding the people need to look to south-east horizon of the sky from midnight till the dawn of Wednesday to catch Eta Aquarid meteor showers.

People can also take a nice photo for Eta Aquarid meteor shower by using recent digital cameras, but they have to increase an exposure time of camera when taking photo to get best photos OF meteor shower, Dr. Beshir Marzouk added.

The Eta Aquarid meteor shower is created by debris from “Halley Comet” where the earth passes through the dust and debris it leaves behind during end of April till the last week of May every year.

Halley Comet needs to around 76 years to make a complete revolution around Sun so it can be seen from earth every 76th year where the last time seen from earth was in 1986, while the next time to be seen in 2062.

 أعلنت دارُ التقويم القطري أن سكان دولة قطر سيكونون على موعد مع رؤية ورصد زخة شهب «‏إيتا الدلويات»‏ لهذا العام حيث ستصل ذروتها مساء غدٍ الثلاثاء 12 من شهر رمضان 1441هـ، الموافق 5 من مايو 2020م، وستمتدّ حتى بزوغ فجر الأربعاء 6 من مايو 2020م.

وذكر الدكتور بشير مرزوق (الخبير الفلكي بدار التقويم القطري) أنّ زخة شهب «‏إيتا الدلويات»‏ من الزخات الشهابية المميزة، وذلك لأن معدل سقوطها في السماء عند ذروتها يصل إلى 50 شهابًا في الساعة بحسب تقدير خبراء الفلك المُتخصصين في رصد الشهب، بينما تنشط شهب «‏إيتا الدلويات»‏ سنويًّا خلال الفترة الممتدة من 19 أبريل وحتى يوم 28 من شهر مايو من كل عام، إلا أنها تصل ذروتها ما بين يومي الخامس والسادس من شهر مايو من كل عام.

ومما يميز زخات الشهب أن رصدها لا يحتاج سوى مكان بعيد عن التلوث البيئي والضوئي، ولذا فسيتمكن سكان دولة قطر من رصد ورؤية زخة شهب «‏إيتا الدلويات»‏ دون الحاجة إلى أجهزة أو تلسكوبات فلكية، إذ يمكنهم رؤيتها ورصدها بالعين المجردة بدءًا من مساء الثلاثاء، وحتى بزوغ فجر الأربعاء، وذلك بالنظر باتجاه الأفق الجنوبي الشرقي من سماء دولة قطر من منتصف الليل وحتى بزوغ فجر الأربعاء، ويمكن استخدام الكاميرات الرقمية الحديثة للحصول على صور لها، مع الأخذ في الاعتبار زيادة زمن التعريض أثناء التصوير للحصول على صور مميزة لشهب «‏إيتا الدلويات»‏.

وأضاف الدكتور بشير مرزوق إن مذنب «هالي»‏ الشهير هو مصدر حدوث زخة شهب «‏إيتا الدلويات»‏، وذلك عندما تتحرك الأرض في مدارها حول الشمس وتمرّ بالقرب من حبيبات الغبار التي خلّفها المُذَنَّب خلال شهر مايو من كل عام، فتتقاطع تلك الحبيبات مع الغلاف الجوي الأرضي، وتُحدث وميضًا يُرى في سماء الكرة الأرضية مع العلم أن ظاهرة الشهب بصفة عامة تحدث نتيجة مرور الأرض بالقرب من المخلَّفات الدقيقة وحبيبات الغبار التي تخلفها جُسيمات المُذَنَّبَات.

يُذكر أن مذنب «‏هالي»‏ الشهير يزور الأرض كل 76 عامًا (أي يمكن رصده من على سطح الأرض كل 76 عامًا) كان آخرها 1986م، بينما ستكون زيارته القادمة للأرض خلال عام 2062.

ويجب الأخذ في الاعتبار أن أفضل الأماكن لمشاهدة شهب «‏إيتا الدلويات»‏ هي الأماكن الأكثر إظلامًا، وهي الأماكن البعيدة عن المناطق السكنية التي تحوي ملوثات ضوئية وبيئية قد تعيق رؤية الشهب، بينما تعتبر أفضل الأوقات لرؤيتها من منتصف الليل وحتى بزوغ فجر اليوم التالي.
